Chapter sixty-nine

I take out my phone and snap a picture. I look....pretty.
I have my yellow sundress on. It's super cute. The straps are tied up at the top and its very flattering.
I put on some mascara, lip gloss, and light yellow eye shadow on for makeup.
I put my hair in a bun and put some gold hoops on. I have some white vans on as well. I think I look pretty, for the most part.
Skylar is knocked out on the bed. She didn't want to admit it but she was really tired.
I leave a note saying I've left and I'll be back later.
I grab my purse and head out the door.
I pull out my phone. It's 12:20 right now.
Matt said he was gonna be here at 12:30. Some small part of me warns me to go back to my room. He's gonna stand me up, my mind tells me. But I have faith in him.
He will show up.
I text him, telling him I'm ready and waiting for him.
I go down to the lobby and sit in one of the couches. I sit there for the next five minutes, looking out the window, waiting for his black mustang to pull up.
I look at my phone screen.
No messages.
I start to tap my foot rapidly, a nervous tick.
Another two minutes pass.
No messages.
No Matt.
It's 12:27.
I start to bite my nails, bracing myself for another blow-up. More disappointment. More heartbreak.
The minutes drag by slowly.
12:28.
12:29.
I look out the window again for a beat longer.
My body perks up as a black car pulls into the lot.
I spring up out of my seat and walk outside.
He gets out of the car with a bouquet of roses, dressed in a black short-sleeve button-up shirt, and some black shorts. It all matches perfectly with the black ink covering his arms. He's so fucking handsome.
I smile excitedly.
I run into his arms, so happy I'm not getting let down again.
I'm not getting played.
He's here, dressed up with flowers and a smile on his face. I couldn't have asked for more.
"What's gotten into you?" he asks as he wraps his arms around me.
"I missed you," I say and look up at him.
His eyes darken as he smiles slyly.
"You keep looking at me like that and I'll show you what you've been missing. You look so pretty right now,"
"Thank you,"
He hands me the roses and I take them, bringing them up to my nose.
"They're beautiful,"
"They reminded me of you, "I smile at him. "Alright, this is getting mushy!" he kisses me on the forehead. "Get in the car," he orders.
I roll my eyes and laugh. Now, this is the Matt I know.
He opens the door for me and I get in, winking at him.
He wags his finger at me. "You naughty, naughty girl," he says and winks at me.
I stick my tongue out at him as he shuts the door.
He gets into the driver's side and closes the door.
I'm craving his kisses right now. He kissed me on the forehead. Still, not enough. My mouth is missing his.
Why am I so hormonal around him?
"How come you didn't kiss me?" I ask timidly.
He turns and faces me.
"I did,"
"Oh yeah," I say lamely. He did. But I want more.
"Why? Did you want another one?"
I turn and look at him. Yes! I do!
But I don't say anything.
"It's all up to you," he says and licks his bottom lip.
I stare at his lips. His plump, pink lips.
I lean towards him and press my lips against those full lips.
I slip my tongue inside his mouth, catching him by surprise.
"Woah, babe," he says.
I wink at him again before leaning back into my seat. He starts the car.
"So, I have something for us to do. I don't know if you'll enjoy it, though,"
"Chances are, I will,"
"We have to make a quick stop, first,"
He backs out of the parking lot and onto the road, driving straight ahead.
"You dressed up?" I ask.
"Yeah. I figured you've done a lot of shit for me. The least I could do is not look presentable,"
"You always look handsome, though,"
He looks at me and laughs. "I'm serious. I already told you that I think you're a beautiful person,"
He stops laughing. "Well, if I'm beautiful, then you must be angelic,"
We both don't say anything.
"So where were you born?" I ask to change the subject which is obviously uncomfortable for us.
"New York,"
"What was your childhood like?" I dare to ask. I know his teenage years were shitty but I still want to know.
He keeps his eyes glued to the road.
"Y'know. It could've been worst. My early childhood was.....shitty to say the least. We were so broke. My family and I were living in a rat-infested apartment along with Jon's family until my dad and Jon's dad could get their business off the ground. It sucked but at least we were all together you know?"
"Yeah. Well, at least you were optimistic,"
"Yeah, looking back on those days, I think that was the happiest time in my life. We were all together. The whole family,"
He pulls up to a wide black gate that has a booth where the gate guard stays.
He pulls up to the booth and rolls down his window.
He pulls his ID out of his wallet and hands it to the man inside of the booth
The man looks it over, scans it, and hands it back to him.
"Have a good one, Mr. Walker," the man says.
"You too," Matt replies and turns up his window.
The gate opens and he drives down the road. There are tall trees and bushes on either side of the long road.
"Where are we going?"
"My parent's house."
