Chapter nineteen
We climbed into the seats after waiting for thirty minutes in line. I quickly strap myself in because even though I think it's hot that Matt likes to strap me in, it's embarrassing.385Please respect copyright.PENANAGAUYJops5A
Matt is sitting to the left of me and I'm on the right.
"Can I hold your hand?" I ask childishly.385Please respect copyright.PENANACG4X129t04
His eyes glimmer with amusement.385Please respect copyright.PENANAIjCbvQlTmk
I scoot over as close as I can get to him while still being under this large, metal bar. He grabs my hand and brings it up to his lips. 385Please respect copyright.PENANAyRBAAvvW3W
He plants a small kiss on the top of my hand and smiles at him. 385Please respect copyright.PENANAbCSGSJBjfq
I look behind me and see that there are pairs of people sitting in a row behind us as well as in front of us. 385Please respect copyright.PENANAV6Akumy3OK
I hear a loud beep and the car starts to move. I look at Matt with a look of excitement and he grins.385Please respect copyright.PENANAAFerQaV41S
The roller coaster starts off slow, creeping up to the highest point. The car is at the very top and I'm squeezing Matt's hand as hard as I'm able to. 385Please respect copyright.PENANANiXsHMaQmz
Matt is just watching me, very much amused, with a stupid, wry smile spread across his face.385Please respect copyright.PENANA0ovTE2LXyJ
The roller coaster is about to drop down from this point. The anticipation is demolished when all of a sudden I feel the car speeding down so fast that I feel like my stomach is about to fall out of my body. 385Please respect copyright.PENANAZjG7JupiqA
I scream at the top of my lungs whilst we're going up and down and up and down. I think tears are literally rolling my face. I love this. It's so much fun. The roller coaster takes one more dive and then it halts to a stop. I let go of Matt's hand and let out a breath of relief.
"That was intense," I say out of breath. Matt chuckles. The booth operator presses a button and the metal bar that was holding us in our seat, lifts. Matt steps out first and then helps me out. I get my purse and take out a hair tie and start to put my hair up.
"What are you doing?" Matt asks
"Putting my hair up. it's all over the place."
"It's beautiful. What are you talking about?" he says, like its obvious. "Ready to go?" he asks quickly before I have a chance to bother him about that sweet compliment.
"Yeah, I guess." It seems like the carnival is starting to get busier. "What time is it?" I ask. Matt takes out his phone and turns it on.
"Seven-thirty," he tells me. We walk out the exit and find Matt's black ford Mustang. I have to fight the urge to roll my eyes. He looks at my face. "It was a gift. Don't worry, I hate it too," he informs me. Phew. Thank god. This car is far too flashy. I hate when guys have nice cars. It's kind of cocky, in my opinion.385Please respect copyright.PENANAwxtBZJEdDB
He opens the door for me and I get in. Why is he a gentleman and an asshole? He shows actions that are polite such as holding open the door for me and helping me with things and yet he makes the rudest comments. Interesting. He closes the door and goes over to his side and gets in. "Did you have fun?" he asks as he's turning on the car.
"Yes, I did."
"Did you actually?"
"Of course, I did."
"Good," he replies. "I told you I was gonna make tonight fun."
"You didn't really talk much," I tell him.
"I'm not much of a talker. I know you are. You were acting differently tonight. Were you worried or something?"
"No. I was a bit mad at you. Sometimes you're really rude. Like you said that I clean up well. What girl wants to be told that?"
"Did I not say sorry?"
"You did but it wasn't because you were actually sorry. I saw the look that Jon was giving you. Nobody should have to scold you into not being a jerk." I finish. I'm starting to get hot. I don't know if its this conversation or the fact that the car is getting really fucking tense. He stays silent despite what I just said. 385Please respect copyright.PENANAnI55ULECix
"Do you hate me? Is that why you act like a complete asshole?" I ask.
"I think 'asshole' is just the name of the game."
"You obviously have no game." I blurt out. He stares at me looking offended and stunned for about a split second but then he goes back to his usual phlegmatic expression.
"I don't know. Seems like I had plenty of game yesterday night when you were practically begging for me." I sat there, mouth agape, from the pure audacity and also shame. He's kind of right. I shouldn't have let him sleep in my bed after a day of knowing him. I'm so fucking angry right now. I literally never wanna see him again.
"Matt, who the fuck would want to beg for someone like you?" I barked. He doesn't even bat an eyelash when I insult him.
"Apparently, you," he answers. I'm sitting here, trapped in a car with this asshole, just bathing in my seething anger.
"You are such an arrogant....stupid...asshole!" I stutter unable to find words for how much of a jerk he is.
"Whatever floats your boat, baby," he says indifferently.
"Take me home, now!" I demanded. he doesn't say anything. Five minutes in the car with this man and he already has my blood boiling. Isn't that what you said you liked about him? That he makes your blood boil, in the most 'intoxicating' way? my mind counters.385Please respect copyright.PENANAd5OqRckUmp
I sigh. I can't lie. He really does interest me. But I can't like someone like him. Well, you do, my mind replies.
