Chapter twenty-five
As I'm walking down the stairs I pass a cute, brown-haired guy that smiles at me. I continue walking down the stairs. "Excuse me," the brown-haired guy says from behind me. I turn around and the guy walks back down a few steps to me in front of me. "Do I know you?" he asks.
"Umm...No, I'm not from here," I reply.
"Well, I would love to get to know you," he says. I laugh at his corny but cute pickup line. "Can I get your number?"
"Oh. Umm......I don't really give my number to people I don't know." Matt pops into my mind unexpectedly and for some reason, I feel a little guilty for talking to this guy.
"Damn it," he says playfully. "Well, if I have a class with you, you'd better get ready. Since I can't get your number." I offer him a small smile and he turns and walks back up the stairs. I continue the trek to my car. He was nice, I guess. No where near how Matt makes you feel, my mind tells me. Yeah, very true. But I really need to keep an open mind. Matt doesn't want me. Doesn't need me. We're just friends. I decide that I'm going to keep an open mind and Matt off of my mind.
I unlock my car and open the driver's side door, slinging my backpack into the passenger seat. I remember Matt's text that I said I was going to answer in the car.
Why are you punishing me? Friends touch all the time, the old text reads.
I'm not punishing you. You want to be just friends? I'll treat you like we're on a friendly basis. Also, some guy just asked me for my number. I press send, wondering why I added that part about the brown-haired guy. You wanted to make him jealous, my mind informs me. I want to remind him that since we're just friends, I'm open to anyone. That's kinda slutty, my mind tells me. I decide to stop obsessing over Matt and go to fucking school, what I'm here for. I put my phone in the cup holder next to me and start my car. When I get back from school today I need to call my mom and find a job, plus, do whatever assignments are given to me. I definitely can't go out with Matt today. 335Please respect copyright.PENANAyscOO4chMf
Damn.
I reverse my car into a vacant 'students only' parking spot. I park my car and grab my backpack out of the passenger seat, slipping the straps over my shoulders. I take out my phone. Its eight fifty. Class starts at nine twenty. I need to be in class soon. I decide to check Matt's text before I leave for class.
You better have said no, the text says.
Excuse me?, I type and press send. I get a text from Matt a few seconds later.
Meet me in the library before you go to class.
K, I reply. I get out of my car, taking my bag, and putting my phone in my back pocket. I take my schedule out of my bag. The schedule has a map on the back of it which is really convenient.335Please respect copyright.PENANA26BJj2Vf3n
Fortunately, the library is very close to the student parking lot. My first class, however, is not. He's gonna have to make this quick. I walk over to the big, obvious building that is closest to the parking lot. 335Please respect copyright.PENANAOKDmTdZnsA
The campus is very big and has a lot of trees and open spaces and benches that I can maybe have lunch in or do whatever I please. I walk up to the double doors. Building number sixty-two. I walk into the building and see one long hallway with doors on either side. The first thing I see is another set of double doors that has a silver plaque that says library on it. I open the doors and see that its pretty empty. A woman sitting at a large wood desk says good morning to me. I see Matt sitting at a table on his phone. He looks up at me and smiles. He stuffs his phone in his pocket. I see that he has a coffee and a brown paper bag next to him.
"Hey," he says with a smile.
"My next class is quite a walk so I need to hurry if I want to be on time."
"Oh, you mean we can't fuck in the non-fiction section?" he says sarcastically. I giggle quietly, as we're in a library. Matt doesn't seem to care. This library is actually quite big. More than ten sections of books as well as a computer lab. I'm gonna be spending a lot of time in this beautiful library. It smells of old books. One of my favorite smells. Matt picks up the coffee and brown paper bag and hands them to me. The coffee is iced and the brown paper bag is warm
"Breakfast," he says dryly. I don't think he's used to doing sweet things for women. I smile a big, goofy grin because this is such a sweet and considerate gesture. He smiles back a small smile.
"How do you know I didn't already eat breakfast?"
"I just know." he stands up. "Come on. I'll walk you to class." he takes my hand and leads me out the door.
"Thank you. This is very sweet. Now, I wish I had something to give you." I give him a flirtatious look. We walk out of the second pair of doors.
"There is something you can give me. But you need to get to class. Where's your map?" I hand him the map and he smiles.
"Awww. Turns out we don't have any classes together." I mentally smack myself. He told me he was going to find out my schedule one way or another. Damn it.
"You win. Why do you wanna know my classes anyway?" We walk into a building. I don't know which building. Matt's leading the way to my class.
"So I'll be able to check on you."
"Okay, friend," I say sarcastically. I take a sip out of my iced coffee through the straw. We walk down a corridor and stop at the last door on the right.
"How did you know that I love iced coffee?"
"I guessed," he says and looks at me coquettishly. We're standing outside of a half-filled room.
"Thank you for breakfast. That was very sweet and considerate of you."
"I just want you to know that I'm other things besides an asshole." he closes in on me so that my back is against the wall.
"Well, I already knew that." he smiles at me.
"Always such a smart mouth, huh?" he whispers in my ear. He always manages to make me horny anywhere and anytime. He kisses my neck slowly and then turns around and starts to walk away.
"Have a good day Matt!" I shout at him. He turns around and winks at me and I giggle. I feel so...alive whenever I'm around him.
I enter my class and find an empty seat in the back. I hate being called on in class. I also hate those people that think they always have to raise their hand and say something unnecessary. Attention-hogging bitches. I mean, I like people, just not obnoxious people. There aren't any seats that don't have anybody seated in the next seat over so I just pick the nearest seat which has a brown-haired guy seated in next seat over. I sit down and push my bag underneath my seat.
"Oh, hi. I saw you this morning on the stairs, right?" It's the brown-haired guy that I saw on the stairs earlier.
"Yeah," I say with a smile. I put my coffee in the cup holder that's on my armrest and open the brown paper bag that Matt gave me. Inside is a glazed donut and scone. I take the glazed donut out of the bag and take a big bite. It's sooo good. Within a minute the glazed donut and peach scone are gone. I didn't even know I was that hungry.
"I heard this class is interesting." the guy says.
"Its psychology. It has to be." I reply
"True. What's your name? My name's Ben. Ben Dalman." He holds out his hand and I take it.
"Novah," I say while shaking his hand.
