Based on current psionic theory, the ability of Clairvoyance is supposed to have three modes (of timeframe reference) when it is used by any Scion. The modes are Present-Clairvoyance, Future-Clairvoyance, and Historical-Clairvoyance. While present-tense and future-tense clairvoyance has been mentioned and demonstrated to the AVPSI before, historical-clairvoyance (clairvoyance peering backwards in time) has yet to be demonstrated to any active Scion.11Please respect copyright.PENANAYyVxxWgvDf

This brief mention of the ability variation highlights that this version of clairvoyance may not actually exist. Altiri Scryers continue to insist that this power is possible, but none have turned over any observational evidence to bolster the claim. If Historical Clairvoyance really did exist, it would mean that someone with clairvoyant abilities would be capable using remote viewing of anyone or any place in the world to events that happened prior to the time of their ability usage. It would give a huge advantage to someone who is trying to learn anything of the past, and allow that person to become a great detective for solving crimes. However, there are two factors about this power that present conflicting concepts for the AVPSI.11Please respect copyright.PENANAbVzBIPOBq4

One issue with the core principle of Historical Clairvoyance (the first factor), is a complete lack of evidence that this power exists. While the report has remained open for so long, no ruling conclusion has been made about historical clairvoyance; it is still an undetermined ability, considering alternative investigation routes. There have been a few reports of humans who have claimed possession of this ability already. These POI presented themselves on certain television programs, about “psychics” who helped solve a murder mystery either by finding clues to the killer, or finding where the dead body appeared to be. Unsurprisingly, strong examination of these POI lead Scryers to believe that these humans were also faking their abilities. Quite a few of these proclaimers raised initial interest by finding a body in nearby water. The Scryers concluded that these individuals only made lucky or educated guesses, since bodies are commonly disposed of into pools of water. The names and sometimes faces of these POI were usually kept off the airwaves for anonymity (for Humans), but the clairvoyants of the Royal Scryers do not care for such privacy when it comes to excavating their results. Naturally, none could guard against this form of surveillance, especially being unaware of it. The conclusion is, those who claimed to have the ability and helped in police cases were only faking their skills yet again, with few of them having some popularity among their local communities for correctly “guessing” some details to their results.11Please respect copyright.PENANAzhFDAYHs2g

The second factor (which is explained more in the Clairvoyant page) has to do with live-target accuracy constraints. Regardless of the tense of clairvoyance, the ability will only return data if the POI whom the clairvoyant is targeting, will be, or has been in the target location during that reference of frame. In addition to this, the target must also be alive in order to provide this echo-return data. This alone has several implications based on each clairvoyant variety.11Please respect copyright.PENANA7FXHVjC7ZU

With regards to present-tense clairvoyance, the implication translates as is: If a clairvoyant wants to successfully watch and remote-view another individual, two things must first be present; the target (person) and the target location. A clairvoyant has no ability to find another individual at random just by focusing their thoughts on them (possible exceptions with clairsentience); they must also have the correct location in mind when doing so, or no return data is collected. Stronger clairvoyants such as the Altirican usually get around this in highly localized searches by panning around in various areas between other people, because for them, the ability does not exhaust their Cora. For a Human clairvoyant however, just a single attempt of clairvoyance targeting a person and location will wear them out greatly, making these two factors important before trying to us either ability. If a clairvoyant targets a person but cannot determine a location, or incorrectly guesses the location they will be at while using the ability, then no-return data is obtained, resulting in a failure to find out details of the target. Subsequently, if a location is determined while no target person is set in reference to their frame of mind, even if there are other people in that location, no-return data is obtained, though Altiri can sometimes circumvent this with greater focus and a lot more time.11Please respect copyright.PENANAepwZDfyz9U

The above paragraph confirms a few things about clairvoyance to the AVPSI. The first is that clairvoyance relies specifically on echo-return data of psionic waves which are echoed by others who have a Cora sector in the brain. Clairvoyance cannot return any data on random material as is. The second is that the precision of successful clairvoyance is based on the target being present as well as being capable of projecting psionic energy in the first place. In other words, as mentioned before, the target of clairvoyance must: be in a cold environment during the Scion’s ability usage, be capable of returning subconscious psionic data (see Human Psionics versus Above-Human Psionics), be in the location during the reference of time for that clairvoyance variant, and must be alive to return that signal in the first place.11Please respect copyright.PENANAyNMJ64Ef7t

The final constraint mentioned above in the previous sentence is the most significant element. This means that historical-clairvoyance (when targeting the deceased) will always fail to result in anything, because Clair-sensing abilities cannot return any data on the deceased, as their Psionic Cores in their brain have ceased functioning. As for asking spirits of the dead, the AVPSI has actually ruled out that this phenomena as a real occurrence in more ways than one (see Psychic Mediums). That said, due to the current investigation into Psi-Fields, the book on Historical Clairvoyance cannot entirely be closed, since it may be possible for an astral body to provide psionic echo-return data to a non-astral being under the correct circumstances. In other words, this ability should not be possible, but the Scryers have just enough material for study to keep this power classified as an undetermined ability.11Please respect copyright.PENANA1YyQoTQmjU

Interestingly enough, the 18-hour rule may also apply to Historical Clairvoyance if it does ever become demonstrated. With future-tense clairvoyance, the difference in time reference can be observed proportionately. Such can see about 18 hours into the future, and therefore observe a lot more information about a target than a present-tense clairvoyant. They can successfully see the future of their target when the location of that target is determined during the future time they will be there, and if the other mentioned constraints are made as well. Even though the tense has changed, the same constraints should still apply. However, if the Psi-Fields allow provision of data from those of the A5E plane, then the 18-hour rule becomes meaningless.11Please respect copyright.PENANAxS7lOpNAyO

While the ability itself is highly interesting, the AVPSI has currently ruled that Historical-Clairvoyance is an ability which may be possible, but cannot be proven or determined at this point in time.
