As its namesake implies, subject ~ Experiment #1 was the very first successful test-run of the purge (a psionic process invented by Herios). In summary, the purge is a complicated means of transferring some of a Scion's powers to another human target whom also has psionic potential (though without knowledge of how to make use of such abilities – in their natural state). Psionic theory and all data from the purge preluding these experiments were directly sourced from Altiri scientist Herios, though she never managed to live long enough to see such a process put to use. Subjects for purge are never born with the natural ability to auto-learn or accidently use their powers, because they are always in an inactive status until something activates the Cora node of the brain. Not all humans are capable of learning psionic powers even with a purge, which is why candidates are referred to as potential scions. It is worth noting that scryers believe it is possible to purge an already active scion (one who already demonstrates psionic abilities in a natural state), though the effects and rate of success would vary since no collected data on the matter exists.13Please respect copyright.PENANARoNHtEkcjU

In the outskirts of a nation east of ancient Rome, in the year 928 B.C., an adult female was selected for the purging process, but no purge was conducted until all parameters were certain, and until LQQ gave the green light to go ahead with the process. While the identities of the nodes for all purge experiments are normally classified, partial data on specific subjects such as Experiment #1 are made fully aware, which is part of a policy of time after enough of it has passed. Designation name “Peak” was the first target of the psionic purge, and as with all purges, they are conducted purely for personal reasons rather than motivated by advancing this science, though naturally, some exception was held with the first purge. Shortly after this purge was conducted, it was made aware that it took more active Scions acting as amplifier nodes in order to successfully purge a single human being. Groups of Scions had to come together sending the same signal to the same target at the same time in order to have a chance of success (about 8+ people), and since purging has severe drawbacks to those who send them, this process quickly became unpopular to the AVPSI.13Please respect copyright.PENANAf5HwDaexco

Much of what was theory became solid historical fact to the scryers. Only one specific member of the scions purging could act as the primary node (meaning only one of the group would be psionically linked to the subject upon purge completion, and this could never change). This meant that any and every scion who took part in psionic amplification of the purge (a requirement for the process) would permanently suffer from ability loss, and in addition never share the direct benefit that a purge provides between the primary node and its target, namely, telepathy. The very first connection of telepathy is always activated between the two by brute force, though only for the first connection. The purged subject must make the effort to continue communications by establishing a new link after the first one has gone out; the reversal of roles here is not possible due to a lack of psionic sensitivity in human targets needed to populate telepathic signatures. The significance of this will be obvious soon.13Please respect copyright.PENANAViwCU8wWLq

Peak was in her upper twenties when she was purged, and suffered no adverse effects from this process, aside from the usual and expected side effects a purge is supposed to have. The aggressor group (AG1) who purged this individual followed up with the Royal Scryers of the AVPSI in order to deliver as much information on the process as possible. However, shortly after the purge was finished, there was an unforeseen problem. The purge did everything it was supposed to do, giving Peak the ability to activate and invoke psionic telepathy between AG1 and herself, the purge both a rising success and the very first moment of direct interference (and communication) between the Altiri and Humans. The drawback to this new connection was a displayed lack of a language translation feature into the telepathic connection. Since Peak spoke a different language from the Altiri, this meant neither of the two nodes could understand their respective dialects. The only universal language that could initially be shared in telepathy were the emotions of the two.13Please respect copyright.PENANAalntdE2X8m

Peak never spoke clear English (the language of the Altiri), though she made the efforts to gradually try over time, and managed to write some of it. Once Peak was in her early thirties, her health took a nosedive, and there was an absence of efficient doctors in her zone, so she did not live for a very long time.
