Claircognizance, the ability to learn multi-layered sets of logistical data over a particular person or situation, has been of interest to many Scions for as long as its namesake existed. However, claircognizance has only recently been observed on most rare occasion by the AVPSI, with the first confirmed invocation recorded roughly 90 years ago. Few ever had a solid grasp on its understanding before, since none of the Altiri have ever presented this ability to anyone before. Until the first report opened, the ability in question was thought to be impossible or non-existent, in much the same manner as telekinesis.10Please respect copyright.PENANALZZf5inKMr

The primary definition was reexamined during this time, to ease others into a better understanding of how claircognizance works as a psionic ability. In short, the user of claircognizance learns specific details (logistical information only), about their target, without understanding why or how they obtained the information during invocation. Unlike with all other clair-sensing abilities, sensory and emotional data acquisition are entirely bypassed, while the user is left without any detailed rail into exactly how they felt the information was relevant. Instead, data acquisition came in the form of a series of fragments. This could include data sets such as physical environment type, target's relative age, target's sibling count, or target's current vehicle type. Notice how the types of information on these fragments give zero insight into the kind of person the target is; only logistical data is uncovered during a claircognizant invocation, and never by means of direct conscious sensory shift.10Please respect copyright.PENANAbhkcYTaaaU

In the late 1800's, the clairvoyant Scryers examining humanity bumped into a group of humans who self-proclaimed the ability to invoke claircognizance, “learning information about any random thing by merely willing those details into their brain.” Intrigued as they were, the AVPSI swiftly set out to theoretically debunk their claims. As any would expect, it was concluded that this particular group of humans were merely enveloped into a false pretext of claircognizance, driven by group psychology. The Altiri also assumed that Humans would fail to meet most general biological energy requirements to make such a potent ability work.10Please respect copyright.PENANASjaHyAm9ne

However, the direction of this long-term assessment changed in the early 1930's, when a girl (who from this point will be dubbed as Lee Gate), also claimed that she “felt unnatural things happening to her,” and that she could “feel and learn things without knowing why.” Lee Gate was essentially proclaiming claircognizance in the definition sense, without using the direct terminology herself, though unlike in the previous case, she did so alone and struggled to prove the power even to herself.Lee Gate also mentioned to her closest kin that her mind was capable of learning things around her at random, including something about specific inanimate objections laying in areas unsupervised. {The AVPSI claimed previously that such an implication would be entirely impossible, due to the standard psionic rule that a living emotional target must be present for psionic abilities to trigger in those areas}. The AVPSI was quick to dismiss the girl's claims as self-delusion, but many other Scryers (outside of the Royal Scryer caste) challenged this specific dismissal, citing several specific instances where Lee Gate's “predictions” were too accurate to be coincidence, despite the situation in each invocation being small in scale (meaning it would be harder to prove).10Please respect copyright.PENANAjFLd4fNJtE

Lee Gate failed to obtain popularity within her specific community, but this wasn't because she tried to hype up her ability in front of others while failing to cement its evidential existence. On the contrary, by the time she became aware of her ability, she went through moderate lengths to keep the situation a secret, which was a behavior trait most fake psychics would never endure. After more time and careful observation, it was learned that Lee Gate was typically invoking claircognizance without conscious effort (and thereby without any personal control over the ability). The Royal Scryers used this to remain ever skeptical, since subconscious psionic projection should not be possible according to the known laws of psionics (as introduced by Herios). The non-royal Scryers kept a close watch on Lee Gate for as long as they could, hoping for some sort of smoking gun, but even after a couple of decades, while they managed to carefully document all the data on Lee Gate that they could, the instance of proving beyond doubt that this individual was really invoking claircognizance correctly never came to be. The Scryers used this case to keep hope alive that claircognizance is at least possible. The AVPSI on the other hand never held this case with the same interest. That said, their attempts to totally debunk Lee Gate were not as convincing as it had been for other false psychics examined in the recent past. After long enough, those tracing Lee Gate lost contact, and the case was closed.10Please respect copyright.PENANA7H0MTwDSG1

During the periods between the 1970’s and the late internet era (2016), claircognizance began to crop up again in popularity for general discussion among English speaking societies. Apparently, the AVPSI never fully lost interest in studying the ability of possible claircognizance, and paid closer attention during the rise in popularity for this terminology among Humans. Circumstantial information shows that the AVPSI found two more individuals with possible claircognizant powers shortly after becoming interested in the project again, and this time studied them carefully (with strongly classified and redacted documentation). These two human subjects will be referred to as CG1 and CG2, though some general information on evolving sociology should be mentioned before heading into those details.10Please respect copyright.PENANAmtURhirqcE

From the start of the 1970's, the ever growing psychic community was facing a devastating time. Thanks to the expansion of the internet, television, and online media, any and all ideas could be shuffled around the world far easier than ever before. This expansion gave rise to many new types of sub-communities and ideals. It also gave countless self-proclaimed psychics a platform they've never had before, and countless amounts of them began to “reveal themselves” to the general public using variety of sorts and tricks, which naturally included claircognizance and a myriad of other psionic abilities. Almost all of the video-related media was easy to debunk even among humans, who were growing aware of video-editing techniques and CGI. One common example (for debunking fake claircognizant people specifically) was in proving that the individual had prior knowledge of the “psychic learning experience” prior to their “demonstration.” Others debunked the claims of prediction-based videos (the variety known as claircognizant training) from being valid, since it was known by the AVPSI that a video of a person and a live person were not the same thing; a video would lack the proper thought dynamics needed for psionic abilities to work on the Person of interest, and it would also lack the current physical location of that person under the correct circumstances. The issue with “psychics” faking or creating self-delusions for their abilities was not limited to known abilities, but of impossible powers as well. With one humiliation after the other growing in numbers (at least during the rise of its popularity), all of the AVPSI and Humans alike became incredibly frustrated with the situation. For Humans, the growing interest in possible psychic research declined rapidly due to the irresponsible behaviors of those who would exploit the trust of others for temporary fame. For the AVPSI, the frustration was coupled with the prospect of spending so much time investigating nearly every single Human who self-proclaimed they had such an ability.10Please respect copyright.PENANAqSHJku48Dy

Even all the way up to the late internet age, false psychics still assert their dominance into spaces where they might be welcome, despite the long-term drop-off in general psychic popularity. It was around this time that the AVPSI doubled down on swift and general tactics of quick psychic debunking methods, to get some sort of handle on the situation. We developed a sequential list of yes/no questions about the exact situation and circumstances of an individual when attempting to validate or invalidate any proclamation of self-invoked psionic ability usage. This list changes and evolves over time, and when Humans become aware of the number one question (the fact that high thermal energy environmental proximity disrupts psionic projections indefinitely), the list may need reworking again. However, to stay in topic, the important takeaway from this sociological refresher is to highlight exactly why the AVPSI struggled to study all psionic claims after this point in time, including claircognizance.10Please respect copyright.PENANArF5PoXiR7o

The damage to reputation was so shattered, that among every single Altiri and Human Scion, all of the AVPSI ceased using the term or phrase Psychic in all aspects, replacing this phrase with the well-known psionic moniker. Psionic energy and psychic energy are exactly the same when compared in definition, though many now use the phrase psychic to describe an individual who either fakes their ability/claim, or for those who makes claims which have yet to be determined. Humans are not yet fully aware of this exact usage of psionic phrasing, though some think the popularity of using psionics in the place of psychic is rising steadily, for better or worse. Needless to say, despite all efforts, this general change in atmosphere damaged the very prolonged study of claircognizance for some time. Scryers argued that the ability in question should not be dismissed due to the deceit of others, and the AVPSI agreed, though with the additional statement that claircognizance had yet to be proven.10Please respect copyright.PENANAGdiFtoUWHY

While no exact year is given due to the low data availability in these two subject reports, the start of the early 2000's is believed to be when subjects CG1 and CG2 were picked up. With claircognizance on the verge of being dismissed indefinitely, CG1 and CG2 renewed all interest in the possibilities and capabilities of those who might actually be claircognizant. The AVPSI and Scryers closely watching these two subjects (who each led lives separate from each other) ensured they not follow any of the notes in previous subjects from 90 years prior. However, many of the details involving these invocations were strikingly similar. Both subjects constantly demonstrated a real ability to “learn various details about their target of thought” without understanding why or how, and while seemingly relying on very low if not zero psionic involvement. During the initial survey of both individuals, the AVPSI refused to make any early conclusions, and left zero citations of possible red flags. This indicated that they were tracking true psychics (or as we refer to as true Scions), humans who were all talk and show.10Please respect copyright.PENANAA3NkkCVGmK

Conflicted by the inability to explain how CG1 and CG2 could possibly be learning random logistical information, the AVPSI turned to specific Scryers with a special project, in hopes to reexamine the possibilities of psionics in how claircognizance could be tied in, later assuming the very definition or process involved was wrongly assumed the first time. The project allowed these Scryers to come up with various theories for how claircognizance could so easily and frequently be invoked in Humans with minimal effort. The amount of theories to look into created a backlog of simulations (thereby panning out the time it took to examine them all). Of all the theories, only one floated to the top; the theory of ESP-Fragmentation.10Please respect copyright.PENANA3ZC6JfmuNs
10Please respect copyright.PENANAltHnj0By0U
In the theory of ESP-Fragmentation, a phenomena only applying to claircognizance, the idea specifies that claircognizance is only possible because it relies on fragments of psionic information rather than fully immersed sensory experiences. If clairvoyance is sight, clairaudience is sound, and clairsentience is sensation, then claircognizance in this instance would be various fragments of all the clair-senses. In other words, claircognizance is making partial usage and invocation of all psionic senses with fragmentation data, information which has no possible interpretation on its own, while logically sound when all put together. It is a kind of mental mapping process indicative of left-brain subconscious behavior. The brain picks up fragments of details that provide no immediate sensory value whatsoever, though when put together still spell out some sort of conclusive information. The direct senses such as sight, sound, and emotion are all bypassed, and instead, logical conclusions are made, with zero personal insight into why. Various psychological brain behaviors explain how this processing phenomena is possible. Claircognizance by this definition is an ability that gathers fragments of visual data, audio data, clairsentient data (based on logical thoughts from nearby thought dynamics), and possible fragments of foresight. These fragments of information then flood the mind of the user all at once, delivering a conclusion about something using either relevant data or irrelevant data (which when put together does not make any sense according to the brain’s general senses.) Because of this, claircognizants are often learning nothing from their ability when used, just as often as they are learning something from their ability usage, yielding a maximum success rate of 50%.10Please respect copyright.PENANA3eluBM9Wcd

Examined with other various analogy, the fragmentation of different perception data would explain why the sense of how in the learning is skipped, because the general perceptions that are present to make this conclusion cannot be determined by the brain when they are fragmented and separated enough to be uninterpretable. It's the same idea of splicing together random corrupted bytes of data off a hard drive, and putting enough together to paint a picture. The picture might make sense, but the data all spliced together comes from different sources, so it might give off other random information about a particular subject matter, such as (these are fragments of different text files or from different folders). This happening on a macro-scale of the brain when using low-level psionic dispersion could explain how the process is possible. The second key to this is that the fragmentation theory would mean that the total psionic energy cost would be significantly lower than almost all other psionic abilities (meaning many humans could learn it, and that the observed difference in directed psionic focus is also a valid possibility). Normally, using multiple Clair-sensing abilities at once for a human would be fatal as it would deplete their energy on the spot; but if the micro-versions of each ability were being used in a fragmentation data collection process, the power could in theory function subconsciously, because of the low level of energy it would need to function in the first place.10Please respect copyright.PENANAdvQHCQQdZe

With these factors considered, the fragmentation theory of Claircognizance exclusively became accepted among the AVPSI, which further supported the effort to prove that claircognizance was a real ability which should not be written off too soon. However, even with this specific theory, there came with it one more unanswered question. If claircognizance is supposed to be the second lowest taxing psionic ability in the entire ability pool, why was its manifestation so rare?10Please respect copyright.PENANAaWlThTIdIK
10Please respect copyright.PENANAD1CyTByHMA
Even among humans exclusively, the rarity of successful claircognizant invocations made little sense. The AVPSI had to be reminded that all humans have a lower psionic aptitude when compared to Altiri Scions. As for why such a low-cost ability would be 100% unavailable to all Altiri for intentional learning, the reason was easily explained away. In the same manner that Advanced Clairvoyance among Altiri cannot be split and separated into its simple individual, lower-cost abilities, Altiri cannot invoke claircognizance because they are too powerful with psionic aptitudes. Altiri Scions appear to be capable of increasing direct psionic projection output, but decreasing output (aside from stopping altogether) proves to be an impossible challenge to meet among all Altiri, with the reasons still uncertain. Claircognizance seems to be the low-cost, low-detail version of any particular ESP ability, which is why its possibility currently exists in Humans and not Altiri.10Please respect copyright.PENANAVqVkqqi69E

Continued examination of CG1 and CG2 did not reveal any new information, but the AVPSI did conclude that these two subjects made correct, perfect, and truthful invocations to the ability, finally dragging claircognizance out of a long-darkened shadow. Despite the expectation, the ability is still thought to be exceptionally rare when presented at all. To add to the challenge of further study, this specific ability has become one of the most common psionic powers that fake psychics will cling to. The reason for this is thought to be the lowered difficulty in hiding many elements due to the already elusive nature in function of claircognizance. Adding to the difficulty for the AVPSI to debunk a devious claircognizant claim, the low-power cost to this ability also means that the maximum thermal environmental factor is much higher for this specific skill than in others. A Claircognizant might be successful in 80oF weather where a Clairvoyant would certainly fail; since this specific method of debunking is the very first part of the list of debunking methods used, being unable to rely on this more often means testing for validity in a human claircognizant is that much harder. Instead, deep studies must be conducted for any evidence on any subject to have any claims proven. With all the online videos of the mess being made, it's no wonder why the Altiri Scryers are tired of searching for more possible claircognizants.10Please respect copyright.PENANAdJpRrAzbAO
10Please respect copyright.PENANAGJRDzsb12F
Nevertheless, The AVPSI now recognizes that claircognizance is a real ability, but strives to learn much more information about this power through empirical methods, even if the process takes forever.
