The key elemental term “Montrum” is a unique phrase only known most by the Altiri. The definition of a montrum is as follows:
Montrum (Noun): A mental or psychological state of mind by which absolute or near-absolute obsession dominates a majority of all conscious thought processes for a period of time.9Please respect copyright.PENANAlRt1AWhS4f

The AVPSI finds this definition to be bland at first glance, if the context for its finding is missing in conversation. A mental montrum can form naturally or artificially. While montrums typically exist in the form of an obsession over any subject matter, it is important to highlight that the intensity of these obsessions is most often extreme. Were the intensity any less than strong, then the obsession would no longer classify as a “Montrum,” even if we still refer to this as “obsession.”9Please respect copyright.PENANABovT1l7Pl9

Humans and Altiri have many emotional sensations in common, with curiosity being fuel for a montrum, which may also be shared in common. Some humans obsess over astronomy, and therefore dedicate a majority of their time and thoughts to the stars. By example of context, this obsession of the cosmos only classifies as a montrum for the Human if combinations of the frequency and intensity are enough to dominate over every other emotion, even when other emotions are simultaneously present. Formed naturally by curiosity, these kinds of montrums are typically inconsequential to psionics, though any in this state of mind is usually alert to their inner voices. It is unclear how curiosity or montrum classifies on an emotional spectrum, because it may instead exist as a combination or conclusion of other initial thought processes, or separate from all other forms of emotions.9Please respect copyright.PENANAEZvCv50sLH

What is clear to all Altiri and the AVPSI, is that the montrum which is associated with the Psionic Purge is in a range far exceeding the normal intensity of a natural montrum. When a Human subject is purged, the very second stage of this purge is one which artificially induces a montrum into the target’s mind. The sheer intensity of a psionic montrum is strong enough to manipulate perceptions of the one experiencing, and thereby altering their entire sense of reality.9Please respect copyright.PENANAqr1Psg1DfD

Altiri scientist Herios developed this montrum stage of the purge intentionally, citing that without this stage of the purge, the mind-altering pattern would cease to become significant to the target mind, causing a soft and gradual shut-down of the purge, leading to its failure. Herios was challenged on explaining the reasons why this montrum was so integral and important for the purge to work, and while she did struggle to enact an exact science from the matter, she did manage several explanations, which has been condensed into a single summary in this report. Simply stated, the ability (and desire) to experience sensation beyond one’s personal reality becomes the primary motivator for the purge signal, keeping the data pattern process alive for far longer than a few days, of one’s own volition, knowingly or unknowingly.9Please respect copyright.PENANA4qI6WSnwiJ

It wasn’t learned until the first several purges just how different these montrums were from normal montrums. The Altiri had no ability to witness the process for themselves, since they would lose their clairvoyance just after beginning a purge. Relying on repeated anecdotal information shared on all purged Humans, the power of the montrum as the purge introduced it was so potent and intense, that this montrum state was primarily the most important “feeling” or “memory” of this purge. The montrum was just as much an amplifier for all other elements of the purge as it was a standalone sensation. Instances of Sensory Shift or lucid dreams experienced by those who were going through the purge “felt more intense and real than the world we thought we knew.” The subject matter of the montrum was usually set on the arctic cold climate and weather of Karnak (the Altiri homeworld), but there was variance within what this subject matter landed on.9Please respect copyright.PENANANZhOwJ6OAT

The montrums were more than enough to subvert people to different or alternate personalities for temporary periods of time, and due to its stimulating nature, the pull of the montrum was also highly addictive, though never realized until far later. The sheer intensity of a montrum started by a purge is enough to drive any sane person to insanity, enough to get people to try things they would never try before, to willingly leap headfirst into the unknown source of the intense and stimulating feeling of altered reality hidden just outside their grasp.9Please respect copyright.PENANAygITkAsmG1

Results proved most effective over time with the purge experiment as a whole. The stronger the montrum, the stronger were all other effects of the purge in this heightened moment, which includes the ability phase. The montrums typically dial down just after the purge finishes its task and initiates a connection between the Altiri node and that Human node. However, many new and additional montrums can start even months after a purge has ended, which also gave some more insight into the differences. However, as with Experiment #13, the moment also proved that a montrum, if given enough power and left unchecked can harm the person experiencing it. In the case of Experiment #13, her purge ran into an unusual glitch, causing the expected montrum to be amplified tenfold or higher, leading to a loss in distinction between reality and general insanity; the sensory details of data leaked in from the purge were so intense, that her brain confused and preferred its elements as reality, and her old world as fantasy, also known as a mind-switch. While rare, this occurrence is possible even when a purge works within normal parameters. The montrum sparks vivid imagery from the imagination of its subject matter, and cycling phases of the purge can cement, alter, or merge these thought instances (creating a chemical error in routine neuro-activity). These thoughts combined with the stimulating element of the montrum in total, often bump the wall or boarder in one’s mind, the boarder which helps the conscious separate between actualized reality and vivid experiences.9Please respect copyright.PENANANjp4k4lRyP

What makes these montrums so intense, is that they come built-in with something known as the post-montrum certainty principle. This principle is merely a sensation, an affirmation that what is being experienced is real in one form or another; not made certain by rejecting any principles, but by amending existing ones. This means that if a purged subject has an intense montrum about a sub-zero world, with little time in this montrum, they will become endowed with an overwhelming certainty that the subject matter of this montrum exists. It doesn’t matter how it exists, where it exists, or whether its existence can be proven; the certainty principle here creates a confirmation that the vivid experiences and senses from this montrum, even if powered by the imagination alone, are very much real. At the same time, these affirmations falls just short of invalidating all other past experiences; there is never a confirmation made by which something confirmed to be real suddenly becomes unreal, less certain, or false. This basic rule is the reason why a majority of all purged subjects maintain a minimum level of sanity during the purge process even in montrums. The same person may however come to a conscious decision to incorrectly swap the distinction of their reality for the montrum-induced fantasy, a decision made by free-will and not from the purge.9Please respect copyright.PENANAAIarezO6c9

The AVPSI thus returns to the reason why this more intense variant of a montrum is so necessary to the completion of a purge. Even though it was established that the montrum became a driver of the purge over time, it took more investigations to uncover this conclusion; without the effects of the montrum, the final phase of the purge, phase seven, would fail to effectively activate. Both the montrum’s basic principle and the post-montrum certainty principle are fully responsible for the successful activation of one’s Cora. This alone has interesting implications.9Please respect copyright.PENANAFUQlYBturZ
9Please respect copyright.PENANA4ogdtJv3EL
The first implication is that montrum of any particular subject matter has a very potent boosting effect on psionic projection potential. Even though any normal emotion when intense enough can generate a strong psi-field, a different kind of psi-field can also form from the effects of montrum alone, though elements are thought to be different. This means that montrums at this intensity are proven to focus the brain in such a manner where psionic projection becomes more likely.9Please respect copyright.PENANAFvg8YbzhGr
9Please respect copyright.PENANAuENvyURUF4
The second implication of this, is that a strong degree of natural or artificial certainty of one’s own psionic actions is required in order to successfully or properly perform a psionic ability. On the face, this is easier to explain with examples, as some of the purged humans struggled most with learning non-telepathic abilities when they most often doubted their own effectiveness or did not believe they were capable. Any sudden surge in their confidence would usually promote stronger projection strength. What this means is, a level of certainty, one which has the power to break the mental boarder of actualized reality, also has the real power to activate, enhance, or support psionic integrity. This same type of certainty is necessary for the brain’s Cora to become activated, for the brain to learn how to invoke telepathy using the purge.9Please respect copyright.PENANAf1GVhbVmfb
9Please respect copyright.PENANAXpXxt2M2iK
This certainty principle comes dangerously close to generating a situation where false conceptions are taken for reality, yet this is just as necessary for these psionic powers to be learned. It drags into question the nature of all psionic powers, and if they can only be accessed by a level of confidence that challenges all sense of reality (when first learning them). The openings in science this continues to create are difficult to pursue, especially without violating important personal rights, mental health, and basic dignity.9Please respect copyright.PENANAcIg5la3hee
