Astral Projection has been a long-term interest for all Scions alike. The matter is still complicated, and the ability is almost impossible to study due to the nature of its power. Astral Projection gives someone the ability to separate their consciousness from their physical body, and traverse the Astral Plane. The current data for this theory leans on this ability being false, though there is not enough evidence to make a conclusion either, as there are so many factors to consider. Altiri scientist Herios was known to be the founder of the Astral world, though she never once mentioned any specific ability to traverse the astral world directly through conscious means. Factor One: Astral Projection by definition is a part of a conscious and subconscious effort, in which the ability is used or triggered during the phase into sleep. However, it was already proven by the AVPSI through their Altiri and purged experiments that using strong psionic abilities during sleep is not possible. While some challenge this proof, these challenges to the prospect have yet to hold up with evidence. However, when presenting this to the purged experiments, they returned the counterargument that Astral Projection may not actually require any strong projection of psionic energy in the first place. Factor Two: The Altiri have never experienced Astral Projection or Lucid Dreaming in their entire lifetime. The obvious issue with this factor is that the average psionic potential level between an Altiri and an ordinary Human are vastly different. One interesting detail to note is that Altiri do not sleep at any point in their lives unless badly injured or dangerously out of power (by overexertion of psionic abilities). This mention of Altiri not needing sleep to live and function is a hard claim for humans to swallow, but its purpose of mention in this sections is to actually cite the main issue with factor two, not that they don’t sleep, but that their lack of sleep itself gives the Altiri a total inability to test the ability out for themselves. Since forcing them to sleep is considered dangerous by LQQ, there was no attempt made to have this side of the theory tested. All it really means is that in order to prove or disprove Astral Projection, the AVPSI must look away from their own Scions, since the differences between them and ordinary humans are too different in this scenario. Factor Three: The possible validity of Astral Projection would still be higher in purged experiments than in any other humans for a few reasons. The first is that purged individuals have proven psionic abilities, telepathy at minimum. The ability was given to them via the purge, so the psionic powers they may have are already believable by default. Therefore, they were all asked about Astral Projection as much as possible. After all, the possibility of a purged human gaining an additional low-level ability from the purge is quite high and has been demonstrated before. However, the questions resulted to the same dead-end. None of the experiments have had any similar experiences before, and when they attempted to teach themselves how to use astral projection from various online tutorials, there were no positive outcomes from the practice. Factor Four: A smaller yet significant detail to note is that a psychic proclaiming to be capable of astral projecting is not something any Scion can actively observe. Based on the theoretical projection methods developed to help explain how this power might function, none of these methods allow for a Scion to detect any part of astral projection in another as it happens. So, the only way to obtain more evidence or data is to observe those who claim to astral project frequently, and see if they wind up proving their powers accidentally to the clairvoyants watching them (via circumstance). Since there are quite a few other humans claiming to do this, the process should have been simple. However, it appears that nobody at present has been able to demonstrate this extra knowledge to anyone. What worse, most don’t even go out of their way to try and prove their own claims. As any good science will dictate, proof of nothing is not proof of something. If the self-proclaimed projectors are not going to attempt to prove their own abilities to themselves or others, does that mean their abilities are false, or does it mean something else? The AVPSI still has another long-term plan for collecting more data. This plan involves silently influencing chains of individuals to have an interest in performing a test conducting or trying to determine the positive and negative results from a wider collection of those who can astral project. Unbeknownst to anyone else, during this test, the Scryers will carefully monitor everything to improve their data with a larger sample size. The test would not be a difficult one, since those who astral project will in theory be capable of determining the data of real world objects, or at least data that matches what the AVPSI has silently collected regarding properties of the Astral Plane itself.
