It’s probably been, 4 weeks since Mark’s Party and my embarrassment with Jack that evening. We have talked since and text all the time now.
We talk when we meet in the library to take time away from our friends and we have fun just sitting and chatting.
Emily has caught on and she’s alright with it, she’s a good person and lets me have time to myself. We’ve had issues and I want to end it because, I really feel indifferent from our relationship. I love her but as a friend.
Im lying on the bench outside our high school with my eyes closed, listening to my music.
I get a tap on the shoulder and I open my eyes and smile, It’s Anthony.
”Ive been saying your name repeatedly.” He laughs and sits next to me.
“Sorry man, I was just enjoying my music.” I take out my other earphone and sit up.
“I know you’ve been sneaking around” He laughs.
I go red and start to try to explain myself but I get interrupted.
”Dude, It’s fine, some friends aren’t as confident as us and you make time for them too” He lays back and pats me on the knee.
I breathe a sigh of relief and look at him.
”Thank you dude, It’s nice.” I smile.
He smiles back at me and we both get up to go home.

Im sitting on my bed, texting Jack like I do every night and I feel my heart flutter once again, even more powerful this time. He said something really nice and I feel like he’s a perfect person. His home life isn’t great and he’s confided in me and I’ve confided in him. He makes me feel confident. He’s funny and a great man to talk to.
As my mind wanders, I decide to invite him over.

I hear the bell at my door and I rush downstairs and pull Jack out of the rain.
“You came here in the rain! Sorry I didn’t know it was raining!” I rush around, as Elizabeth gives him a towel.
“It’s fine” he laughs and I pull him up the stairs.
He looks so cute with his hair wet. I blush.
I pull him in my room and we sit down on my bed.
”Remember the last time I was here?” He asks me.
”Don’t remind me, I’m so sorry for that night.” I reply, putting my head in my hands.
He laughs, “I’m kidding, it was funny. Surprised you do remember it to be totally honest.” He smirks and I nudge him with my elbow playfully.
I stop and look at him. My heart is telling me this is right.
I move in suddenly and kiss him, he moves me down onto the bed and smile into the kiss. I realise what I’m doing and pull away, but don’t stop holding him.
“Wow.” He says, smiling.
”Yeah.. Im sorry Jack. It feels so right.” I say.
”Ive wanted this for a while, Evan.” He looks into my eyes and I move forward again until I stop.
”What?” He asks, worried.
”I need to break up with Emily, I can’t do this until I make sure she is ok.” I tell him and get up and put my coat on.
“You can stay here Jack, Elizabeth will look after you if you want. I’ll be back.” I turn around and look at him, he is looking very cute on my bed and I can’t stop my heart from fluttering.
“I’ll wait for you. Will Emily be ok?” He asks.
”I feel she knows already....” I Say, Hopefully.
I leave the house and go on my way to Emily.
Standing outside of Emily’s house, I hesitated to knock but knock hard. She opens the door to see me on her doorstep.
I look at her apologetically. “I’m so sorry Emily, Im so so sorry” I start to break down on her doorstep and she pulls me inside and sets me down on the sofa.
”Sorry for what?” She asks me.
“I’m gay Emily, Im so sorry!” I sob into my hands and she relaxes her arm around me a little.
”I wondered if you were, when we were doing things you weren’t as interested as I thought you’d be, you have been uncomfortable around me. I’ve been wanting to talk to you about this and to be honest, It’s a relief. Im happy you’ve found yourself Evan.” She pulls me into a hug.
“Thank you Emily, are you upset?” I pull away from the hug and look into her eyes.
She wipes away a tear from my eye and shakes her head.
”No. Im happy you’ve found yourself and found someone you like. Ive fallen out of romantic love for you after I started to come to terms with how you might feel. I love you in a platonic way and that’s great. We still have each other.” She smiles at me.
”I love you Too Emily, you’re so good.” I hug her harder.
She suddenly pulls me up to a stand.
”Stop crying and go get your man.” She pats my shoulder. I laugh as she shoves me out of her house.
“Text me soon. See you at school next week.” She laughs as she shuts the door.
I get back into my car and drive back to my house.
I jump out of my car and Elizabeth opens the door and I run up the stairs and burst into my room, making Jack jump. He sets his phone down and I saunter up to him and kiss him deeply. He pulls me down on top of him and we enjoy each other, feeling the electricity between us.
We pull away from each other and smile.
”So, did it go well?” He chuckles and I nudge him.
”Yeah, I think.” I smile and get off of him. He sits up on my bed, grinning.
“I now have to come out to everyone....” I look into my lap, Jack shuffles over to me and puts his chin on my shoulder.
”Only come out when you feel ready. Ill be here to help you.” He kisses me on the cheek. “And if anyone is horrible to you, Ill kill them.” He laughs and I grin.
