If I were to die today,

What would be your last thought of me?

Would you remember the last words I said to you?

Whether they be as meaningless as have a good day,

or as important as I love you.

If I were to die today,

Would my death make any difference in the world?

Would anyone even know I was gone?

You would, I suppose.

Maybe you would notice the lack of music coming from my room.

The colorful socks always lying around the house, now gone in neatly packed boxes.

The gluten-free food you bought would slowly mold and rot, for no one is there to eat it.

There would be reminders of me everywhere.

If I were to die today,

And come home in a wooden box,

It all neatly tied with a glittering pink bow on top.

You would rip it off, cause you know I hate that color.

I wonder what the world has to gain from me in it,

Another factory worker, perhaps?

Or maybe another prostitute,

The possibilities are endless.

Thus,

If I were to die today,

I hope you think only the best of me.

Wait, no.

Remember all of me.

The good, the bad, and the inevitable.

Remember the good ole’ days of fun in the sun and singing on the top of our lungs.

Remember how you made me cry and scream and punch walls.

Think of all the times I spent here,

Don’t forget me.

If I were to die today,

I hope you can forgive me for my early departure.

Don’t be angry,

For I may be in a better place.

We all have our endings, the circle of life,

We live for a few days, exist for the rest.

Promise me you will live, not just exist.

If I were to die today,

My last thoughts will be of you.
