Hello writers!

I am Alice and after the success of the first writing contest that I hosted here on Penana, I'm back for contest number two! This time, I will be sharing a picture here, which is your writing prompt. Your task is to use what you see in the picture and write a short story. It can be any genre, reading age that you like but would be handy if any trigger warnings were mentioned somewhere in your entry.

Without further ado, here is the prompt for the challenge!:

RULES:

- Your entry must be between 500-3000 words long, not shorter, not longer

- Entries must be written in English

- Please state the total word count of your entry somewhere in your entry

- Spelling, Grammar will be judged. I am the judge for this challenge and decisions are final

- OPTIONAL BUT MUCH APPRECIATED: It would be lovely if you could follow me here on Penana, to show your support for future writing contests I plan to host in due course.

You have exactly one month from now until entries will close. Submissions after that time won't be accepted. Only one entry per user.

Hello writers!

My name is Alice and welcome to my first ever contest I'm hosting here on Penana! I hope to start running monthly writing contests here in the future, should this contest go well. To be notified of new updates, feel free to follow my account here!

This is The First Sentence Challenge! How this works is I give you all the first sentence, which you must use as the first sentence in your entries. It is then up to you to write whatever you want. Whether it is a spooky story, a love story, anything! This contest will be open for entries for three weeks and only one entry per writer is accepted! I will be the sole judge for this contest, here is what I'm looking for:

- Characters that are relatable

- Story-lines that are creative

- Good plot twists that I personally wouldn't have seen coming

- Good use of correct spelling and grammar

RULES:

Entries must be written in English!

No gore, violence or erotica accepted!

Swearing must be kept to a minimum!

Word Count: 500-3,000 words (would be really handy if you disclaim somewhere in your entry the total word count!)

There will be a first, second and third place entry. You are more than welcome to read and comment on other entries submitted. You may edit your entry up until the closing date. After the closing date, you won't be allowed to edit. Judge's decision is final.

The First Sentence is: 'When the door slammed, I had to run.'

Since most young writers will be preparing to start school within this month I have decided to host a fiction competition school related, based on my personal school experience the expected genre will be horror and comedy. The prompt is the first day of school. 1st place will receive a custom cover for their work of choosing created by me.

Ever heard of a spoken word poem?  If not, look them up--although I'm sure most (if not all) of you have.  Well, now, here's you opportunity to write your very own spoken word!

This contest will be creators pick... I've tried like-count and it doesn't work.  Ya'll don't vote for one another.   ._.
