She never got tired of this view, no matter how many times she revisited it, over and over again.
She leaned a fraction of a centimetre closer to Johnny, almost losing her balance as the roof tiles slipped from underneath her.
She squeaked, and was then caught by Johnny - which was what always what happened when she came up here with him.
She puffed her cheeks up.
"I don't quite know why you always bring me up here!"
She glared at him, but he replied in his always-smooth voice, just as he always did.
"Admit it. You enjoy this."
She blushed.
"Hmmm..."
He leaned over and gave her a little kiss on the forehead.
She blushed even more.
"When we grow up," she said suddenly, "we'll get married, won't we?"
"Yes. And I will take you to Paris and we'll live there together..."
"And have a family!"
He shrugged, smiling.
"If that's what you want."
Behind them Cheesecake skittered about on the tiles, falling over like a... like a dog on a roof.
Emily giggled, and Johnny sighed helplessly at his dog.
"Cheesecake, if you were the only thing Father and Mother left me before they died, I think I might have to return you...!"
Emily laughed even harder, before suddenly pulling Johnny into an embrace.
"Do you think time passes in Heaven?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well, your mother died when she had you, which was..."
She struggled to remember.
"She was 21," Johnny corrected.
"Yes. And your father was...31, because you were 10 when he died," she continued. "So if they marry each other in Heaven again, would they be 21 and 31...?"
Johnny pondered for a moment.
"I don't think they would be any age," he concluded. "Because in Heaven, the inhabitants would all be energy beings."
Emily smiled. "Yes," she agreed.
She stood up suddenly. "Father will be chasing after me again," she said. "I think I may need to go home now..."
"Whatever you say, mi'lady," he grinned like a boy, taking her hand once more and jumping off the roof as Emily stifled a scream.
