Chapter Five

Mike Lowell saw TJ.

'She left you, man. You're an idiot'.

TJ smashed his face with his right hand.

'Don't!', Sarah cried.

'Look, I don't need this shit from you', Dave said.

'What's the matter?', Howard asked him.

'The dance is off', TJ answered.

'Off'.

'That's bullshit. We'll go into the mines'.

'The mines'.

'Let's go!', Howard insisted.

And that was what happened.

Dave yanked the chain.

'Get the helmets on. The mines are dark'.

They went downward.

***

The darkness consumed everyone.

Harriet Schaeffer was with Hollis Moore.

'We can go here', he said.

'We we be safe?', she asked.

'I'm sure we will', Hollis answered.

As they entered the room, the door closed.

When the teenagers shifted on the ground, they had a bad feeling of being watched; a bad feeling that never went away.

'Someone's here', Hollis said.

'Who?', Harriet answered.

'Harry bloody Warden', Hollis said.

Suddenly the miner appeared.

In his right hand was a pickaxe.

The screaming came sooner rather than later.

Gretchen Kane was alone.

She saw the miner.

She backed away.

He forced herself onto the rail.

She screamed, then died knowing her Valentine's Day was over.

Dave was separated from his friends.

He looked around.

Suddenly he sensed the killer was nearby.

He didn't see the knife come towards him.

It was too late.

TJ walked towards the air shaft.

'I know I was away for ten years. But, Mom and Dad were fighting all of the time. It was freaking me out; I was seven, or eight. Besides, I didn't want to cause you grief, Sarah', he said.

'You did', Sarah said.

'Listen, if something does happen...', TJ started to say.

Then they saw the killer.

It wasn't Harry Warden.

The killer held onto the pickaxe in his right hand.

It was Axel, TJ's best friend.

The killer appeared in the depths of the cold mine.

He breathed in the mask.

Memories came flooding back.

And he walked away.

'Axel', Sarah said.

The killer attacked her.

TJ grabbed a knife.

They fought on the mine truck.

In the end, TJ made sure that the killer was killed. He knocked the helmet off, as well as the gas mask.

And he, as well as Sarah, left the mine.
