After Alan got his love potion from the old man, he was certain that he was going to be happy. He thought nothing of the things the old man told him of his past customers or how they all returned for the "glove-cleaner". Alan didn't realize that when the old man said "Au revoir" he would truly would be seeing him again, "later".
