The narrow alley was only three or four meters wide, but it was packed with people. Servants and attendants stood at the periphery, while two young nobles, extravagantly dressed, violently assaulted an elderly couple.
The old couple clearly weren't wealthy, their clothing simple and rough, their vegetables scattered from an overturned wheelbarrow. Du Cheng watched the scene with mixed curiosity and a growing sense of urgency.
As Aliza reached the alley’s entrance, Du Cheng tapped him lightly and jumped down. "Hey, Aliza, do you recognize those two?"
"That's Kaman and Friss," Aliza growled, clenching his fists eagerly. "They visited our home once and bullied you, Master. I beat them up good! Want me to do it again?"
"Hold on a moment." Du Cheng studied the young nobles carefully, noting their rich clothing and expensive jewelry. Clearly, they were powerful.
"What's their background?"
"Friss is the finance minister's son. Kaman is the son of the minister of rites and a descendant of the Battle-God of Storms!" Aliza explained earnestly.
Du Cheng eyed Kaman thoughtfully—a handsome boy of around fourteen or fifteen, with sky-blue hair. Another titled Battle-God's descendant.
"Whose rank is higher, his father’s or mine?" Du Cheng asked.
"Your father’s, of course! Lord Anges is Vice-Commander of the Empire’s military command. Only the king and prime minister rank higher!"
A confident smile appeared on Du Cheng’s face. "Perfect. Aliza, go teach them a lesson for me!"
"With pleasure!" Aliza charged forward, fists flying, quickly knocking down several guards before clashing fiercely with the nobles' attendants.
Kaman stopped attacking the elderly couple and turned to Du Cheng, surprised. "Francis? Aren't you supposed to be dead?"
"Clearly, I'm very much alive," Du Cheng replied with a grin. "How shameful, bullying the elderly! Let them go, or Aliza will give you another beating!"
Kaman sneered, pulling a necklace from his neck with a metallic ball attached. "Three years ago, I was just a first-level warrior. Now, I'm a second-level Orange Warrior!"
A bluish glow enveloped the metal sphere, transforming it swiftly into a golden hammer. Du Cheng gaped in surprise, realizing he’d underestimated the situation.
Aliza, undeterred, shouted confidently, "Don't worry, Master! I defeated two second-level warriors just this morning!"
Du Cheng was stunned. Clearly, he'd underestimated Aliza too. What important information had Francis's scattered memories failed to reveal?
Kaman engaged fiercely with Aliza, who fought with brute strength and unyielding determination. The battle quickly devolved into a rough stalemate.
Just then, Kaman shouted, "Friss, deal with that useless Francis!"
Friss stopped kicking the elderly couple and pulled out his own metal sphere, turning it into a short metal staff. "Francis, I'll show you a Red Mage Warrior’s power—Water Wave!"
A swift jet of water shot toward Du Cheng, who barely dodged thanks to the agility retained from his past life's training. More blasts followed, forcing him into rapid evasions.
"Don't hurt Master!" Aliza roared furiously, knocking Kaman aside and tackling Friss. The mage was swiftly overwhelmed and beaten.
Du Cheng sighed in relief, impressed by Aliza’s incredible prowess. Strolling calmly toward the defeated nobles, he smiled warmly. "Kaman, Friss, let this be a lesson—don’t bully the weak. Aliza, that's enough. Let them go."
Kaman staggered to his feet, glaring angrily. "You win today, Francis, but I'll remember this. Let's go, Friss."
As they turned to leave, Du Cheng quickly approached, patting Kaman’s shoulder with a broad smile. "Remember, no more bullying the elderly!"
Kaman scowled, shaking off Du Cheng’s hand and storming away.
But behind his back, Du Cheng smiled secretly, holding tightly onto a metal sphere—Kaman's sacred artifact.
Indeed, the master thief had struck again.
