The next day, I learned that the school was holding a sports event. Although elementary students weren't participating in the activities, classes were temporarily put on hold, giving me some free time. I decided to use it to do a twist-out on my hair. As much as I loved letting my hair out, the humidity and constant combing would eventually cause it to thin and tangle, which I wanted to avoid. With this in mind, I headed to my sleeping quarters.
Once inside, I wasted no time. I grabbed my comb, sectioned my hair into six parts, and set out my water spray bottle and curling cream before starting the twisting process. An hour later, my hands were exhausted. I took a break, sipped some water, and then resumed the task. Only two sections at the back of my head remained when I heard a knock on the door.
"Kasi? Are you in there?" Ci Xing's voice rang out.
"Yes, come in," I called out. The door swung open, and Ci Xing walked in, dressed in a Mingde School tracksuit. Her hair was tied in a high ponytail, her face radiating energy and excitement. She held a package in her hands.
"Wow, this hairstyle suits you! I brought you the school's sports attire. It's the same as what all the teachers are wearing. I figured you didn't have a pair," she said, settling into the chair opposite mine.
"Thank you. You guessed right-I didn't have the school's sports attire," I replied with a smile.
"I also wanted to let you know that the sports event isn't just for high school teachers and students. Even elementary teachers are included. Jun Cai and Mei Lín are already at the playgrounds as we speak."
"Thanks for letting me know. I'll meet you all there once I finish what I'm doing," I answered. Since I didn't have any pressing tasks, joining the event seemed like a good idea.
"Great! I have to go and cheer on my class. I'm also leading the teachers' match against the students. Reach out when you arrive," Ci Xing said, her face glowing with enthusiasm.
"Alright, don't waste time on me. You've got a lot on your plate," I responded, waving her off.
"Alright, see you there. It'll be great if you join in," she grinned before closing the door behind her.
I finished the last two sections of my hair, then changed into the school's sports attire. When I looked at myself in the mirror, I was stunned. The sports shirt hugged my curves, highlighting my full chest despite my bra's support. The pants fit snugly around my waist and hips, emphasizing my slim-thick figure-full, round hips balanced by a narrow waist. I turned sideways and took in my reflection. My backside sat perfectly in the fitted pants, my shape accentuated in all the right places.
This wasn't going to be an appropriate outfit amidst students and teachers. I remembered how well the tracksuit had fit Ci Xing. She looked sleek and athletic, but her slimmer figure was different from mine. Women around here were generally leaner, with little muscle or curves. I, on the other hand, was toned from running and walking, with defined muscles and fuller proportions.
I quickly threw on the larger jacket that came with the tracksuit. It was a lifesaver, covering my chest and hips just enough for me to feel comfortable. I pulled my twists into a bun, grabbed my water bottle, and headed out.
The school playground was vibrant and buzzing with energy. Colorful banners hung around the area, fluttering in the breeze. Students gathered in clusters, waving flags and cheering for their classmates. Some sat cross-legged on the grass, faces full of anticipation. The track field stretched across the playground, neatly marked with white lines. On the other side, teachers had a designated seating area under a shaded canopy, where Jun Cai and Mei Lín were already settled, chatting animatedly.
The atmosphere was electric. The high-pitched cheers of students mingled with the steady rhythm of a drum, beating to encourage the runners on the track. To the right, a group of students was competing in the long jump, sand flying as they leaped with determination. To the left, relay teams were huddling together, strategizing before their race.
"Hello, Teacher Kasi!" A cheerful voice cut through the noise. I turned to see two boys and a girl grinning at me. Their faces were familiar, but I couldn't quite place them.
"I'm Pei Song. This is Xia Ning, and she's Ru Wei. We met on the track field before," the taller boy explained, pointing to his friends.
Recognition dawned on me. "Oh! Which events are you participating in today?" I asked, smiling at their bright faces.
"I'm competing in the long jump! They're just here to watch and cheer," Pei Song said proudly.
"That's great! Where's your other friend?" I asked, remembering the energetic girl from before.
"You mean Ling? She's running the 100-meter race right now! Do you want to watch with us?" Ru Wei asked, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
"Alright, lead the way," I agreed, following them to the edge of the track.
The track field was alive with anticipation. Students lined the sides, waving banners and chanting names. The runners were crouched at the starting line, their bodies tense and ready. The referee blew the whistle, and they took off like arrows released from a bow.
"There she is! Go, Ling!" Xia Ning shouted, pointing excitedly.
Ling was in the lead, her face a mask of determination. Her arms pumped with precision, legs moving in perfect rhythm. Her classmates' cheers grew louder as she neared the finish line. With one final burst of speed, she crossed it, securing first place.
"Ling! You did it!" Pei Song yelled as she ran over to us, breathless but beaming with pride.
"Drink slowly, Ling. It's not good to drink too much water right after running," I advised, handing her my water bottle.
"Thank you, Teacher Kasi!" she panted, her cheeks flushed. Then, her eyes sparkled with excitement. "Can we take a picture with you? You're really pretty!" She blushed, her friends giggling beside her.
I laughed softly. "Sure."
The children crowded around me, posing with peace signs and wide smiles as we snapped a few pictures. Their joy was infectious, filling me with warmth.
As they gathered to admire the photos, I looked across the field and spotted Jun Cai and Mei Lín under the teachers' canopy. Jun waved enthusiastically, and I waved back, heading toward them.
"Kasi! Watch out!" I heard Ci Xing's voice, sharp with urgency from a distance.I turned just in time to see a group of students sprinting toward me, their faces full of focus as they raced down the track. They were too close, and before I could react, one of them stumbled, crashing into me.
Time slowed as I lost my balance. My feet gave way, and I felt myself falling. My heart leaped into my throat as the ground rushed toward me. Helpless and off-balance, I could only brace for the impact.
My vision blurred as the world tilted, my body suspended in the air for what felt like an eternity. My pulse raced, a cold shiver running down my spine as I realized I was falling, unable to stop myself.
The noise of the playground faded, replaced by the rapid thumping of my heartbeat. Everything around me slowed to a crawl as my body continued its descent. I shut my eyes, bracing for the pain.
