The Xesyn Sapphire has a great deal of mythology behind it. Legend has it that the Deity known as Xesyn would in times of great strife find proud warriors to harbor her sapphire in her name. The Sapphire would grant them eternal life as long as it was in their possession but Xesyn, as an agent of chaos, would make others aware of the presence of the Sapphire leading to many attempting by force or subterfuge to obtain it.

I know this sounds crazy but we believe he knew more about the sapphire than he ever led on. The jewel has an iron casing; iron throughout the ages has been known for its perceived connection to physical power, aggression, growth, dependence, and protection. Said to be the most human of the metals I believe that it might have been a tactile response.
