Elizabeth Cooper was only twenty-five years of age and had lived in Littleton her entire life with her mother and father who had passed away a few years prior leaving her as the owner of their family farm which she had now sold most of to the banks as she had no need for forty acres of farmland, but instead babysat for most of the town whenever they needed. She slowly made her way back to her place humming her favorite songs as she walked and skipped occasionally, she eventually was walking up the path leading to her front door, which was strangely open and appeared to have been opened with a key or something. As she stepped over the bit of wood from the door on the ground, she looked around her house and nothing seemed out of place and nothing appeared to be missing, only the mess the girls left was visible. She walked over to the phone to call the sheriff's office about an apparent break-in but when she picked up the receiver there was no dial tone and as she was looking down at the wall jack noticing that it was not only ripped from the wall, but the end had been shredded and frayed like some wild animal had gotten in and chewed on it. At that thought a figure dropped from the ceiling and hit Elizabeth over the head with a fire poker and then dragged her outside and into the forest.

As the sun was setting and orange spread through the sky Milton was sitting the porch with his wife Jenny discussing the prior events of the day "Do you think we should move the girls to Omaha to stay with my parents for awhile" Milton hated the thought of sending his girls away but maybe his wife was right, Omaha was quite awhile away which should be far enough to protect them but quite honestly didn't trust anyone but himself and Jenny to keep them safe. "Maybe, I'll sleep on it. If we do send them, then you're going as well, I can't risk you being in danger either" explained Milton grabbing the bottle of bourbon and pouring himself a third glass watching the once burnt orange sky turn black, and listening to the crickets singing. "I'm going to head to bed Milton, whenever you come in try not to wake the girls, they were difficult to get to sleep." As Jenny went to bed Milton finished off the bottle and went inside.

"Daddy wake up, wake up wake up" yelled the girls as they jumped up and down on the bed. "We want pancakes and mommy isn't here" Milton got up and rubbed his eyes. "Where's your mother" asked Milton "she left the house, she wanted to take a cake over to Miss Cooper" explained Rachel. "Okay if you want pancakes your going to have pay the tax" said Milton as he got up and chased the girls out the room, down the hall and around the living room as they screamed and laughed as their dad picked them up and swung them around and lightly tossing them onto the recliner and then heading to the kitchen to make breakfast. A few minutes later the girls and their father sat down and ate breakfast laughing as the youngest had somehow gotten syrup stuck in her hair, these girls were his whole life Milton thought, Rachel, his oldest was Eleven years old and was smart enough that she might be considered gifted if they had her tested but they never bothered with it since they homeschooled and had no access to any gifted classes in their small town. His youngest daughter Cassandra was only five years old, he and his wife had been trying to have a second child two years after Rachel was born but had no luck has they suffered through three miscarriages in four years and they had given up until one day almost seven years ago they found out she was pregnant again and this time their dreams were fulfilled. Cassandra was a hyper kid who often rubbed off on her older sister, who when by herself is reserved calm kid but wild and loud when with her sister, but is very protective of her little sister. After they ate Milton began cleaning the dishes but now wondered what was taking his wife so long, Miss Coopers place wasn't that far but knowing his wife the two of them must have gotten wrapped in some conversation, that was until the phone rang.

"Girls, we gotta take a trip to see Uncle Lester, so I need to two get ready" explained their father. "What about Momma" asked Rachel, "Mom is already there, honey", thirty minutes later they were on the road and speeding towards Bientville. An hour had passed with the girls singing along to the radio and Milton drove trying not to panic about the implications of Elizabeth's disappearance, when they reached the sheriffs office, and parked. "Okay girls, you guys are going to say hello to Uncle Lester but then Aunt Janice is going to hang out with you guys while me and mom talk to Uncle Lester, okay" asked Milton nodding his head to get the girls to agree. Walking into the building and down the halls to Lester's office there were people everywhere all in a hurry and frantically filing, as it has been a crazy week for Ladmouth county, two murders, a suicide and now an abduction in twelve days. Now both Valley Creek and Bientville Sheriffs office's had joined forces since everything seemed to be connected, and the files rushing into the office from Valley Creek was obviously overwhelming. "Hey Janice, is Lester in his office" asking Milton while sitting the girls down in the chairs next to Janice. "He is, and so is your wife Jenny and the Sheriff of Valley Creek, Bruce is his name I believe" explained Janice breathing heavy while she struggled to get the obviously outgrown onesie on her child. As Laster entered the room he saw Lester, Jenny and a man who must have been six foot eight maybe three hundred pounds towering over the other two, this had to be Bruce. "Hey Milton, sit down please, this is Sheriff Bruce Wallace from Valley Creek" explained Lester as Bruce just grunted at Milton. "This morning when your wife went to visit Elizabeth Cooper she arrived to find her missing and the house clearly had been entered by someone prior .She called us and upon our arrival and search we didn't find any forced entry or any other evidence besides the blood on the ground, however when the cleanup crew got their they uncovered something in her pantry that we missed. There was a symbol behind a box that was made with blood, here's an image of it." Explained Lester as he slid a photo towards towards Milton, it appeared to be a circle with bird symbol with a piece of wheat in its beak and the phrase "Magnus Corvus" underneath. "What does that mean, 'Magnus Corvus', sounds Latin" asked Milton. "It means 'The Great Crow', and the symbol is used by the group called Crow, the one Todd Shoemaker was involved with." explained Lester putting the picture of the symbol back in his desk. "So they attacked Elizabeth but why, she's a sweet young lady" said Milton. "Well we can't say for certain they did it, but they are definitely the main suspects, however we don't know who they are or where they are, that's where you come in Milton. In the notepad we found on Mr Schmidt was a log of all past meetings, they seem to have them every other week, which would mean that this tuesday would be their next meeting at nine fifteen at night, we just need to figure out where. Mr Schmidt Never wrote what location but Instead described the locations, there were ten meeting logged in the note pad and nine of them were split between the same location except the latest one by your place." explained Lester. "So that's what I'm here for, to figure what places they went too" ask Milton looking confused at the request. "Fuck no, that isn't in your repertoire of skills, what we need you to do is infiltrate the meeting, either by hiding and listening or pretend that you're interested in joining" Milton's mind began to go a hundred miles a hour and his heart was about to pop out of his chest. "Why me, I'm not a cop, I have no training, is it even legal" exclaimed Milton frantically. "As a undercover agent, no, but as our informant, yes" explained Lester. "So let me get this straight, you want me, a husband and father of two to attend a meeting of a psychotic group who's killed possibly at least three to four people in the past twelve days and be a fucking rat, are you serious, I'll be killed." Milton ranted. "It has to be you, you've seen their meeting before, you know how they handle themselves, if we sent a cop either they catch on to the fact that he's a cop or do something wrong and they're get mad, and hurt them, we need you Milton." Jenny put her hand on his and looked him straight in the eyes and he knew right then and there that he did in fact have to do it and that she was supportive of the decision he made. "Fine, I'll do it. Do I have to wear a wire or anything" asked Milton. "No, no wires, no cameras. We will drop you off a few blocks from the potential site, you will make your way there and if they are there then we will stay parked where we let you out, we can't risk tipping them off by getting to close. If it isn't that location we'll come pick you up and head to the next location" explained Lester. "Do I at least get a gun" asked Milton. "Hell no, I can't give a civilian a weapon of any kind, you have to go in there defenseless" said Lester. Milton rolled his eyes and stood up from his chair, "is there anything else" he asked. "No, me and Bruce will pick you up on Saturday around eight, don't bring anything with you , no phone or wallet, just a black robe, if you don't have one we'll bring you one" explained Lester. "Okay, we're going to head back home then, I guess I'll see you Saturday, nice to meet you Sheriff Wallace" said Milton this time he got a nod as well as a grunt. He, Jenny and the girls headed on home and after a hour and a stop to have dinner they reached the driveway of their beaten down farmhouse and the girls were fast asleep, meaning now he had to carry Cassandra all the way to the house and to her bed. "I'm real proud of you Milton, it's a brave thing to do" said Jenny comfortingly as he sat in his recliner. "I guess so, there wasn't much of choice, but thanks, I'm gonna stay up a little bit longer you don't have to wait up for me" Jenny walked down the hall and into the bedroom to being getting ready for bed as Milton sat and thought about the best approach to the infiltration, and eventually he fell asleep in the chair as the owls hoots and crickets chirping filled the night air.
