Sakura Grim the underworld's brave leader was having a normal day which she usually spent working all the time. Running the underworld was a tough job and so she spent all day keeping demons in check as well as responding to humans who summoned her before. It had been peaceful for the most part and Sakura was used to it she needed a spark of happiness in her life but never really did much about it. She was used to solidarity and didn't mind it anymore but little did she know that her life was about to change dramatically and it would never be the same just because of one simple human girl. A girl who was rumored to have porcelain skin and the prettiest features you had ever seen. Her eyes were rumored to turn a beautiful gold color whenever the slightest light hit them. A girl who was rumored to have hair made of only the finest silk. The truth was that she was indeed beautiful but she was human. Like you and me. She had bumps on her skin and her eyes did not turn gold. She was flawed in the most beautiful ways and Sakura loved her. They were like the sun and the earth. They could not be apart from each other or one would falter.
Cold was the day that it all started Alice had woken up in the manor grounds and was very disoriented. Her head was pounding her hands and knees were scraped and she felt terrified. She did not know how she got there but the cold was not kind to her frail skin and instead it was bitter. She knew somehow that she was in the underworld. She remembered stories her mother would tell her about it and the place where she was at matched the description. Not knowing what to do she knocked on the doors to the manor but Sakura was in her study and far too busy to notice and so as Alice got no response she attempted to open the doors. It worked! She thought, pushing the heavy doors open and rushing inside. She hated to have to trespass but she had to or else she'd die of cold. She'd run around the manor her eyes widening at how big the house was. She'd walk around not knowing if there was anyone even home but then she'd run into Sakura's office. She didn't know it was her at the time but something drew her towards it and she opened the doors rushing in. As soon as she saw Sakura she thought Finally! A person! She would then begin to cry. "Please! You have to help me..I don't know why i'm here I don't understand!" Sakura would gasp when she saw the girl she would not be able to get a good look at her until she grabbed her by the shoulders and wiped her tears away with her thumb. "I-i how did I get to the underworld?" Alice would ask and Sakura would gasp. She was right! They weren't in the human world now. How was that possible? She would remember that every 100 years they would sacrifice a pretty young lady to keep Sakura quiet for another hundred years but Sakura was not a monster she would never hurt a person. Especially this one. Sakura looked in her dark hazel eyes and smiled softly trying to give her comfort. "Dear, please sit. I'll explain everything." Alice immediately trusted her she didn't know why but something about Sakura gave her an immense amount of comfort. When Alice was seated and she had calmed down Sakura got on her knee and looked up at her. "Listen what i'm about to tell you may shock you but please I'm asking you to trust me." Alice did not know how much she trusted this stranger but she was determined to figure out what was going on. "A-alright..?" Sakura would sigh a bit looking up at her attentively. "Listen, um, you are in the underworld right now obviously and I...am the ruler of the underworld. You were sent here to me." She'd try her best to avoid the word sacrifice without lying to the girl. "Why..?" Sakura would bite her lip. "Um, to keep me from hurting anyone on earth since I need blood. But please do not worry. I will never ever take your blood without consent." Alice would stay quiet for a bit nibbling on her bottom lip which she did a lot to calm her down. She'd run a hand through her soft white hair which reached only her shoulders. "Can I go home..?" Sakura would look at her sadly she knew she would never go home. "No i'm so sorry." Alice would begin to cry again knowing that she would never see her mother again. "I'll never see my mother again then?" Sakura would only shake her head silently. "So what now..?" Sakura would sigh a bit again and then smile standing up and helping Alice up. "Now you choose. You can stay here or you can leave but I must warn you the demons outside are not so kind and to them you'd only be a snack. If you stay here I'll give you somewhere to stay and you can stay here as long as you'd like if you don't want me coming near you I'll make sure food only gets delivered to you. Does that sound alright?" Alice would nod a bit. "I don't mind seeing you. I trust you." She'd smile she knew she didn't trust her completely not yet but she did trust her to some extent. "Let's go then." Sakura would smile leading the way to Alice's new room.
The house was big and Alice's eyes widened in amazement she had never seen a house that big since she grew up poor in a dingy apartment. The manor had gold rose designs all over the walls and they were also a lavish pale color to compliment the gold. There was a huge chandelier over the long dining table and a small lamp over the one in the kitchen they had. It was a very big kitchen with lots of pots and pans and lots of food and Alice loved to cook especially with her mother. They would sing songs together and she would tell little Alice stories of adventure and romance. Alice would never get to do that ever again but she had a new home now and she had to adapt. The whole way to the room Alice would ask questions like "Can I go out at all?" And such Sakura would answer with yes or no and she would give short explanations as to why or why not. In the end Alice would have a pretty good thought about what life was going to be like there. Finally Sakura would get to Alice's room and she would open the doors revealing a big bed with white silk sheets and a soft blanket and pillows. There was a wardrobe and a desk all white with gold as well as the rest of the room. "You can decorate it as you like but you should sleep for now you need to get some rest." Sakura would say showing her around and Alice would hesitate for a bit but she would climb into bed. Sakura was going to leave her in order to make her comfortable but Alice would grab her hand gently. "Could you maybe..stay? Just until I fall asleep. My mother used to do it a lot when I was younger. Please? You can say no of course." Alice would avoid looking at Sakura but Sakura would smile revealing her dimple just like the one Alice had but in a different side of her cheek. "Of course." Sakura would sit on the bed holding her hand until Alice drifted to sleep. Before leaving Sakura would look at Alice. There was something strange about her. Something different about her that drew Sakura even closer to her. Sakura would shake it off and walk out taking one last look at her and smiling at how calm she was while she slept then she walked out closing the door silently.
