Ariana's pov:
"Clainton manor! Are you crazy! Is that not like one of the King's properties. The one you wanted to send me to." I say frantically, my words coming out faster than I can think of them. I am so angry at myself for not running away last night. I had planned to leave once Sisily had fallen asleep. But I couldn't force myself to leave not when I knew I would be running away to nothing.
"Yes, yes it is..." Sisily speaks, her voice too calm for my liking.
"Are you mad! They will kill me the second they see me, I thought you said I could trust out." I screech out, almost ready to pounce on her in my temperament. I had expected the prince to meet us at a secret location, but not this. Not in a royal household.
" Well then you have to trust me, and I promise that no harm will come to you at the manor," Sisily says as the cart moves. She gives me a sideway glance before letting out an exasperated sigh and continuing, "I give you my word for it."
Her word. The same word she probably gave the King to show him her absolute loyalty. Did her word even mean anything to her.
If it did, she wouldn't have betrayed the King by saving me.
I probably should keep my mouth shut, but the words still spill out even though I try holding them back," Sisily, your word has no meaning left to it."
She glances at me, her expression almost pained. It doesn't take a genius to guess she wasn't happy with what she was doing. This just made her words seem even more false.
I look away from her when our eyes meet and decide to keep quiet for the rest of the journey. Only the goddess knew what would happen once we reached the manor. I just hoped that agreeing to go to the manor wouldn't end with me having an early funeral or anyone else for the matter.
The journey to Clainton Manor is laborious it takes us more than six days to travel with horses. If I could have shifted into my wolf, we most likely would have been going in wolf form. I had asked Sisily why we hadn't used a painting to travel or a portal, and the only response I got was that there was only one way to travel there. There were no magical means to get to the Manor.
The journey to the manor may have been laborious, but it was breathtaking in every sense, as we got to travel across glorious mountains that looked like they were touching the sky. The forests were dense but spectacular, with us setting camp every night in a forest and hunting for food.
When we finally reached Clainton Manor, I am almost astounded by the normalcy of the manor. It didn't look like it was made for a Royal family. It looked like it was made for a family, a wealthy family, but just a family.
I look around noticing only one guard standing at the entrance, which almost astounds me more than the normalcy of the place. We walk in slowly, my eyes taking every inch of the place. Something about the place made it seem more like we were intruding on someone's home instead of the king's property.
Why would a King ever own something like this?
This place didn't show any wealth it instead showed a house that almost looked like the home of some ordinary Alpha.
My eyes meet Sisilys as she mumbles out, "This way."
We walk down the hallway in relative silence, my eyes taking in the almost plain white walls, with only a few family portraits hanging over them and some armour. The floors draped with a striking green instead of the usual red. This has me asking Sisily, "What is this place?"
"This place is what the royal family refers to as home. It was built by the old King for his mate and children." She continues to speak as she looks upwards as if remembering something, her face filled with nostalgia.
This place was probably more than a mere property it was most likely another home for the Royal family. I follow her line of sight. My breath hitched at the spectacle before us, we were currently standing in a great room, and the ceiling above us looked surreal, it made it seem as though it was raining inside even though it wasn't, "this way Ariana." Sisily says as I follow her.
"We'll get you settled in first, and then I need you to meet some important people." She says as she pushes a door to a room open.
I walk inside, my insides feeling almost intoxicated by the scent that lingered in the astonishingly large room. " You will be staying here for the remainder of your stay, get settled in, I'll have a maid come to fetch you for dinner."
I nod my head as Sisily leaves, I walk towards the bed and plop down on it. The softness almost worrying, it felt like a cloud, a fluffy blanket of softness that I could fall through. I lean back my head hitting the softness, the scent of the sheets making my mind spiral. The scent felt familiar, and my body almost rejoiced at the scent it felt so good, it was almost like I was in nose heaven and felt so familiar, too familiar.
My eyes widen when the realization hits me, and I scramble off the bed. No. No. No. This was the king's chamber.
Before I know it I'm marching down the hallway to find the Sisily, my blood boiling in my veins, that bitch. If I could, I would murder her right now. Did she think this would be funny?
I hear her voice coming from a room that sits at the end of the hallway, without thinking I push the doors to the room open. My steps suddenly halt as I see the people crowded around a desk. They all turn to look at me in their seats just as my eyes widen.
"Nate!" the name barely leaves my lips before I half run and half walk down the room to my big brother. My arms go around him as he stands up, my body flooding with relief as my face breaks out into a smile. I'm only half aware that there are two other people in the room when I pull away.
