This is my first AU series.
Dean’s POV
Battle horns sound in the distance as we make our way towards the castle. We were never going to have the element of surprise, our army was too big. The wide field to the south of the castle will be our battleground. Far off in the distance the army, my father’s army, marches towards us.

I’m surrounded by the sounds of clashing metal and screaming men. The scent of copper and dirt hang in the air. Men rush at me from every side. I slash, kick and punch at every onslaught. A short distance away from me, Sam and Jess stand back to back, watching them work together has me longing for Y/N. Cas is further down with his freedom fighters deep in the fray.
An enemy soldier’s sword catches my arm and I stumble back as he advances. Suddenly a shadow passes overhead and he’s snatched from where he stands. Crowley lands where the man just stood.
“No need to thank me dog,” he cackles, taking off into the sky again.
Their reinforcements are squeezing us tighter together. We’re holding them off, but it won’t last long. Hundreds of men and women lay dead or wounded, many are ours; even more, are Metatron’s.
The sky darkens, turning an ominous shade of red. I look up to see the moon slowly sliding in front of the sun. Anticipation floods my body, renewing my vigor as I dive into the battle again.

You look to the sky, watching as the moon blocks out the sun. You swoop down to the ground just in time for the change to come and you’re human once again. Charlie and Kevin are deep in their trance as you dash to your horse. You find your pack with your clothes and weapons. You quickly dress, jumping onto your horse and spurring him forward with the tap of your heel.
When you arrive at the battlefield you quickly scan for Dean. It’s difficult with the madness that surrounds you and you can’t find him. You drive your horse forward, slashing at anything in your way. You reach the middle of the battlefield hopping off your horse and smacking him on his hind sending him away. John is a few hundred feet ahead of you with Abbadon. You run toward them. John is slicing, kicking, and stomping everyone in his path. Abbadon swings her blade in a sweeping arc taking down four men at a time. Finally, you spot Dean a hundred yards away. You run towards him, but a movement to your right catches your eye. You turn just as Abbadon swings her blade again cutting John down.
“No!” you scream.
“Sorry, John,” she laughs. “You didn’t really think this would go any other way did you?”
She looks down at him lying on the ground holding his wound, the blood flowing quickly through his fingers.
“Oh, you did, that’s sweet. But you know I only ever loved-”
Before she can finish you swing your sword taking off her head and coming back around running her through. You leverage your boot against her body, pulling your blade back and running over to John, as her body falls to the ground. You pull him into your lap as his eyes roll back.
“John? Look at me. Open your eyes. John!”
Dean is at your side, his hand is fire on the skin of your shoulder and you bite back the yearning need for him.
“Dad?!”
“Dean,” John grips his son’s shoulder. “I’m fine, leave me. You have to kill Metatron.”
“Dad, no,” terror seizes Dean’s face.
“Yes.”
Sam and Jess appear in front of you.
“Dad?” Sam furrows his brow, worry coloring every feature.
“It’s up to you,” John says, a trickle of blood appearing at the corner of his mouth. “Metatron has to die.”
The four of you stand around the King with your backs to one another sweeping the battlefield. Sam, Dean, and you draw up your swords while Jess aims her bow and arrow. You form a circle to the approaching soldiers cutting them down as they attack.
“I have an idea,” you say as you cut down a soldier. “We need to get moving.”
“You guys go, we’ve got this,” Sam says. “Right, Jess?”
“Right,” Jess says, releasing another arrow.
You look to Dean, “Let’s go.”
“Where?”
“To the castle. Your dad’s right. We kill Metatron, we end this.” You don’t wait for a response breaking into a run. “Crowley!” you shout. “Crowley! Get down here!”
Dean sprints up next to you as massive wing beats start blowing your hair around and you look up.
“Yes, darling.”
“Take us up.”
“With pleasure,” he says landing.
He dips down so you can climb on top of him; Dean sits behind you gripping your waist. You’ve dreamed of his hands on your skin for two years and you can’t help the moan that escapes your lips at the feel of him behind you. Then you’re up in the air; the sensation of flying as a human is much different than when you were the falcon. The loss of control has you a bit nervous and you grip Crowley’s neck tighter.
“Ow, easy back there, I won’t let you fall,” he calls back to you.
You loosen your grip a bit as the castle comes into view. The place that had once been your home looks foreign to you now. Crowley swoops down as you near the closest spire.
“Drop us here!”
He’s a few feet above the walkway when you and Dean leap, landing in a roll, before stopping on your knees.
“Crowley, get John clear of the battle, then get Sam and Jess and bring them back here.”
“Whatever you say, I’m at your service,” Crowley says, his green eyes rolling.
Crowley rises back up into the sky and a little bit of you longs for the feeling. You shake yourself and look to Dean. Even in the madness, you’re both grinning at each other.
“Let’s find Metatron and kill that son of a bitch,” Dean says.
“Gladly. But first.”
You go up on your toes, capturing his lips with yours. His arms tighten around your waist as you wrap your arms around his neck. Your entire body alights; you are fire and air, ready to fly away.
“I love you, Y/N.”
“I love you, Dean.”
You run down the castle wall to the tower stairs. You run into a few castle guards, taking them down easily when you reach the main hall leading to the throne room.
“It’ll be easier if we split up. You find Metatron, I’ll find Rowena,” you say.
“Ok, but Y/N, be safe. If it gets hairy, get out. Don’t try to be the h-”
You pull his face to yours kissing him deeply. “Go find Metatron and kick his ass. I’ve got this.”
You run down the hall towards the dungeon. There are no guards; it seems Metatron has sent all but a skeleton crew out to fight. You don’t find Rowena, but you find someone else. Actually two someone.
“Meg? Benny? Oh my god, we thought you were dead.” You rush over to them, breaking them from their chains. They’re gaunt and bloody, but alive.
“Dead may have been better,” Meg croaks.
“Dead right, cher.”
“Are you guys ok to walk?”
“We’ll be fine, darlin’. Where are we headed?”
“I need to find Rowena. I thought she’d be down here.”
“No, they’ve been keeping her in her rooms. Just against her will and all,” Meg explains.
“Let’s go.”
You reach Rowena’s room. And though it’s not the dungeon it may as well be. Rowena is chained to the wall with the spelled cuffs.
“Rowena!” You rush over to her ready to break the chains, but stop once you reach her.
“Y/N, dear, I’m so happy to see you,” Rowena coos.
“Rowena, are you ok?”
“I’m fine, dear. Much better now that you’re here.”
“Can I get these off of you?”
“I’m afraid not, Metatron did the spell, they won’t come off until he releases me or him…”
“Dies? No problem. C’mon.”

Dean’s POV
I stand over Metatron. He laughs as blood dribbles out of his nose.
“What’s so funny?”
“Oh nothing, it’s just that killing me won’t solve anything.”
I step back, watching him. He smiles knowingly at me. Y/N comes running in with Rowena, Benny, and Meg. They look worse for the wear, but they’re alive and joy fills me. If I wasn’t so intent on what Metatron was saying I’d be rushing over to them.
“You two always thought it was about you,” Metatron says, gesturing to me and Y/N. “It wasn’t, that was just me having some fun. What sweeter torture than to curse the golden couple the night before they’re to be married? But no, it was always about the King, Cain, and Crowley.”
Just then Sam and Jess enter the throne room followed by Crowley.
“Why?” I ask.
“Payback.”
“From who?” Y/N asks.
“Lucifer.”
“Lucifer’s dead, I saw it with my own two eyes,” Crowley growls.
“If you say so.”
“I’ve heard enough,” Y/N says, taking a step towards Metatron. “I’d like Rowena to be free of her chains now. You’ve got two choices: either release Rowena or I kill you.” She waits, watching him. “I’m kinda hoping you won’t release her.”
“No, I’ll do it,” Metatron sighs.
“Too bad,” Y/N says.
“Of course it won’t do any good.”
“What do you mean?” I ask.
“Well, it was me who put the cuffs on her, but I didn’t do the binding spell.”
“Who did?”
“Lucifer.”
“Again, with the Lucifer. Nice try. Undo the spell or I kill you,” Y/N is growing impatient.
“I’m telling the truth. If you would just li-”
Y/N runs him through with her sword.
“Y/N!” I yell.
“I’ve had enough!” she screams. “This ends now.” She turns toward Rowena. The cuffs remain around Rowena’s wrists. “It was supposed to break the spell,” Y/N says confused.
“Unless he was really telling the truth and Lucifer is alive and the one who spelled them,” Sam says.
“Now who would believe a crazy thing like that?” Lucifer stands beside my father’s throne. We all turn, gaping at him when Crowley lunges. “Uh, uh, uh. No need to be so aggressive, Crowley.”
The dragon is frozen in place. “I’m going to kill you,” he says, his green eyes filled with hatred.
“You already tried that. It didn’t take.”
And suddenly Lucifer is gone. I look to Y/N and Sam.
“The battlefield, let’s go!” I yell, rushing out of the throne room, the rest of the group right on my heels.

When you reach the battlefield you find a bloodbath. Bodies are strewn everywhere. You spot Lucifer in the center; he and Ketch are locked in a melee. Cain lies dead near them. Fear grips you as you move closer, scanning for your brother. You breathe in when you see Gadreel fighting two soldiers.
“Who did it?” Lucifer yells, seizing Ketch by the neck and lifting him off his feet. “Who killed her?” He doesn’t wait for a response before breaking Ketch’s neck.
“No!” you scream.
Lucifer’s gaze locks on you, mock sadness on his face. “Oh, sad to see your pet go, Y/N?”
You grind your teeth. “I did it,” you say, your voice barely above a whisper.
“What?” Lucifer drops Ketch’s body.
You wince as you watch it crumple on the ground. You steel yourself, spinning your sword up in front of you. “I did it. I killed your bitch,” you say, smiling.
“Then you will die bloody,” Lucifer says, ripping Ketch’s sword from his dead hands and stalking towards you.
