When Joshua is left to care for his four year old little sister at not even eighteen years old, how on earth will he protect her? More importantly, how will he keep both of them safe from the impending Second World War? What with their Mother's strange last words, a little dying bluebird in need of care and a call for all young and able men to fight for their country - nothing seems quite right.
