When you are born you cast a dice,

And start a game that we call life.

And if you're lucky, or good on the board,

You win more time as a reward.

The most valuable resource you can get.

Never gained, always spent.

Time is precious, we always seek it.

So naturally we have a way to keep it.

Tick Tock, the hands creak round,

Cogs whirr under a gentle, constant sound.

A face of glass, encased in glass.

The perfect balance of wood and brass.

Made with precision and expert hands,

Solely trusted to count our span.

Always ticking with firm insistence

Reminding us when to dispense our existence.

A piece to count our hours and days,

The most dignified of displays.

Unnoticed by most, but admired by those

Who value how quickly time just goes.

Guided through life, day by day,

To the ticking of seconds and a pendulums sway.
