There was only one thing that marred our success.  When Larissa heard the news of our triumph, she realized that her game was up.  So she slipped back to Rio and visited O Brainiac in prison.  He had been expecting her for a long time, and, knowing nothing of the war with the Asternoids, he could not understand her delay.

O Brainiac melted the bars of his cell and into the night sky---out of the knowledge of men----the two arch-criminals faded.

As Alda and I received the roaring acclaim of the crowds upon our return, we heard the broadcasts of O Brainiac's escape and realized that as long as these two ruthless conspirators were at large, we were due for many more thrilling adventures.

And that remains to be seen!
