Forest Killers - Chapter 9

"Hey little sister."

I opened my eyes, I was back at my house.

" Jace , Alice come here quickly."

My brother took my hand and started running off with me behind him.

"What?" Jace said

I peeked behind him , my mum and dad where there , smiling happily.

" I made this for you." Dad said.

He made us a swing.

I remember this, it was on my 7th birthday just before my brother disappeared.

" You like it , sweet cheeks?" my mum said

I felt myself nod and smile and I ran to hug them.

But suddenly I was in my room , I heard a loud sound coming from outside.

I saw my brother and my father arguing.

Then my brother turned around and saw me and came back inside.

" Alice , its me." Jace said

" Jace , why are you and papa shouting ? Did Alice do something bad ?" I heard myself say,

" Ohh no , Alice is a good and sweet girl."

I smiled and hugged him .

I miss his hugs so much.

" Alice, your brother has to go far away for now. Promise me that you will be a good girl?"

I nodded.

What ? No!

Don't go.

" We will meet again one day." he said kissing my forehead.

No! Jace don't leave me again.

I shouted.

" Alice!"

I woke up.

Two strong arms where shaking me awake.

"Alice."

I looked up and Gaven was looking at me with concern.

"Sorry , bad dream."

" It's alright , you should go upstairs to sleep." he said

Then I just noticed I slept on the couch and it was already nightfall.

"Yeah." I said nodding.

He helped me up and we went up the stairs to his guest room.

" Goodnight." he said

I grabbed his hand and stopped him before he could leave.

" I know its selfish , but could you stay with me until I fall asleep?" I asked.

I noticed my hands were shacking.

He nodded and he pulled a chair near the bed.

He took my hand in his and stroked it slowly with his thumb.

" You kept shouting a name." he said.

" I did ?"

" Yeah , kept shouting Jace."

" Ohh."

" Who is he ?"

" No one." I said.

" By the way , I saw you on TV today." I looked at him.

He looked at me and if it wasn't so dark I thought his face became pale.

" Really ?" he said

" Yeah , near the forest on fire."

" Ah , yeah was passing by and stopped to see." he said.

I didn't believe him one bit but I'm too tired to argue.

" Fine." I said closing my eyes.

I was fast asleep.

I opened my eyes slowly , they felt so heavy.

" Hey." I heard his voice.

He was here all night?

" Hey."

" You were here all night?" I asked him.

He still held my hand and he still was sitting in the same place.

" Yeah."

" Why ?"

" You were trembling all night , and you needed me here so I stayed."

" Why ?"

" Why what ?"

" You don't even know me."

He smiled and shook his head.

" I know enough."

I looked into his beautiful eyes, they look tired.

" You sleep I will make breakfast."

I said waking up slowly.

I stood but he kept my hand in his.

" What?" I asked him.

He kept silent for a while.

" Nothing." he said slowly letting go of my hand.

My hand was so cold now.

I nodded and walked out of the room.

What was that about?

Keep control Alice , you hardly know the guy.

I composed myself and went downstairs making breakfast.

I started making pancakes , the usual.

I'm addicted to this stuff.

I put some songs and Enrique Iglesias was on.

I started wiggling my bum with the song and singing softly not to wake him up.

" Can you hear me ... nanana. Hey Hey."

I turned around and obviously saw him , smiling and staring at me.

Shit.

I stopped the song.

" Hey."

He started laughing his ass off.

Sure make fun of me.

" Y-You look cute when you dance." he said still laughing

" Very funny, for that you have less pancakes."

He straightened himself and he stopped laughing.

" Ohh hell to the no." he said

" Too late already ate it."

He came from behind me and started tickling me.

I started to laugh.

" Stop!" I said trying to wiggle out of his grasp.

" Give me my pancake now!!" he said but laughing himself.

I turned around to push him.

Bad move.

We were face to face.

Few inches apart.

He stopped tickling me and rested his hands on the counter behind me.

We were both breathing hard from the laughter.

He inched closer.

Just when his lips were almost touching mine , the phone rang.

He bumped his forehead with mine and moved away.

" Yeah ?" he answered.

I was still in place shocked.

I turned around , trying to look calm.

" Yeah I'll be right there." I heard him say.

" I have to leave, I'll be back to take you to school."

" Its alright I'll tell someone to fetch me, don't worry about it." I turned and smiled to him.

" Then I'll come to get you after school." he said grabbing his bag and he was gone.

After the sound of his bike was gone , I turned off the hub and I sank on the floor.

I called Avery.

" Hey A, can I ask you a favor?" I asked her

" Yeah sure, but I need some answers."

" Sure."

" Then tell me." she said.

" Do you mind coming for me this morning , I need a ride to school."

" Sure , tell me the way."

I explained the way , although I was hazy about the way but somehow she got it and said she will be here in 30 minutes.

I ate my pancakes fast and went to get ready.

I only have 2 lessons today, I put the books in the bag.

I pulled a pair of jeans and a black jersey on.

I heard a horn.

" Shit." I said and I ran outside.

I saw her old brown car.

She loved old cars and somehow found one which worked , and it really is a beautiful car.

" Hey." I said throwing my bag in the back.

" Hey." she said.

" Fine , answers , drive first."

She nodded and we were off.

" Start." I said.

" First question , who is that hunk?" she said

" Ohh , so that was the important question , poor Caleb."

" Shut it and answer me." she said half smiling.

What am I gonna say ? I can't tell her he saved me from death.

Wait that's it.

" I was running in the woods and almost fell, he saved my ass."

" You , running?" she said glancing at me.

" Yeah , needed to clear my head."

" Fine , than how did you end up living at his place?"

Shit.

" Well , he offered I stayed with him until I could afford my own place."

" You could have come to me." she said , sounding sad.

I rested my head on the seat.

" Yeah , I know , but I was crushed I didn't know what I was doing , he cleaned my house and grabbed my bag and we were off."

She sighed.

"Fine , I will let this pass, only if you gossip me on the deeds."

" Like?"

" He has a hot body does he ?"

I laughed at her.

" Well yeah."

" He doesn't run around naked right?" she said opening her mouth and looking straight at me.

" Shit look at the road."

" Answer me."

" Fine , NO!" I shouted at her.

She turned.

" Only without shirt." I said

She squealed: " I knew it.".

I couldn't help but laugh and she laughed with me.

" So , have you kissed?"

" Avery , really ?"

" Yep."

I sighed , " I just met the guy."

" Yeah, but its That guy."

" Fine , we almost kissed this morning."

She looked at me , she turned and parked the car.

" Tell me now."

I shook my head and explained everything to her.

" Well , that sucks." she said

I nodded and we were off again.
