She - Chapter 4

I ran up the stairs to the archive, Trevor following me. The guards let me in as soon as they saw me coming.

" Good morning Ms.Devine," they said.

" Good morning guys," I said rushing past them.

The workers nodded to me and I went in the second world war section.

" Trevor search for a book by the name A.S.S."

He blinked at me as if I was speaking a different language.

I rolled my eyes.

" Archeologist secret services. "

He chuckled.

I glared at him.

" Something like this actually exists? You should think about changing the name. "

He laughed.

I punched his arm.

" Take this seriously. "

He nodded, almost afraid of my outburst.

Gosh, men.

After almost fifteen minutes of searching, I found the book.

I searched for the page, Trevor leaned in, curious.

"Here."

I said almost breathlessly.

I read out loud. " No actual proof has been found on the location of the fountain, which is said to hold great archaeological value. Some have theories on where it is, but no true clue has been found."

There was a map glued to the page.

It had various 'X' on it.

I crashed my fist on the table.

"Rosa ?"

Trevor kept calling my name but I couldn't care less right now.

I put my chin between my fingers.

Think Rosa think.

The original picture doesn't give a specific location and so many 'X' doesn't sound right. Something is missing.

I turned to the map again.

Shit.

How can so many people be wrong?

Where we wrong from the start?

Suddenly two strong hands grabbed each side of my face.

Trevor turned my face to face him.

" Calm down."

I looked into his golden eyes.

His olive skin made his eyes look more beautiful, his clean shaped jaw and his nose.

I never looked at him for real.

He's beautiful.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.

Suddenly something hit me.

My eyes bolted open and pulled Trevor's hands away from my face but kept them between my hands.

I looked down at the table.

I tilted my head slightly.

There.

I turned to Trevor. " Do you have a marker or a pen ?"

He nodded, giving me a black pen. I took the book and scanned the map.

When the copied map was ready, I placed it under the light and added the 'x' marks together. Joining a perfect star.

I couldn't help but grin.

The answer was right in front of us.

I laughed.

Trevor looked amused. " Did you figure it out ?"

I nodded.

" You see how many people wrote X in so many different places? But all in the same area ?"

He nodded.

" I thought it was weird since they usually follow different theories and split up to follow different paths. But why are they all in the same area this time ?"

He thought for a minute.

" Because they never really had a clue?"

I chuckled. " That's what I thought, but these are qualified people with great minds, how could they do such a simple mistake ?"

He shrugged.

" Because they knew exactly where it was, but never truly sure of the position it was."

He looked confused.

" I'll explain later, let's go."

He nodded and turned to leave but I grabbed his hand.

He turned to look at me.

" Thanks, Trevor."

He smiled and squeezed my hand leading me back to the bike.

As we arrived at the spot, I saw everyone on the floor talking.

Steve was playing with Rachel.

"Steve."

I shouted as I ran to them.

He smiled, knowing well that I came back with an answer.

As I explained everything, everyone's eyes were on me, hearing every single word.

Once I finished, Steve sighed.

" So we have been excavating in the wrong spot all this time ?"

" Yes and no. "

He looked perplexed.

" We just need to move the tent a couple of feet east. "

He looked at me as if I was insane, but his angel at the same time.

" Are you sure about this ?"

I nodded showing him the map.

He studied it intently and when he realized what it was he bolted out of his seat.

Shouting instructions, to move the tent.

I sighed taking a seat.

" You always save our asses. Thanks, Rosa. Tomorrow we will start digging, for today we will stop to cover up what we did so far."

I smiled at him and he hugged me.

Giving everyone the news.

Trevor came near me with his sister.

" Good job." He said smiling almost as if he was proud of me.

I smiled back.

" Same to you."

" We're heading home, up for dinner ?"

I smiled again.

" What's this, you haven't seen me enough for today?" I smirked at him.

He grinned. " Not enough. "

I smiled softly. Rachel's eyes were looking at me with anticipation.

" Fine."

Rachel squealed and she pulled me behind her.

I looked at Trevor, he was smiling and looking right at me.

My heart did something, that I didn't feel it doing for a long time.

It started beating.
