RAPID SCREENING DEVICE (RSD) is a technique which is primarily used for stability investigation of different kinds of chemicals by safety researchers to quantify thermal hazards by the temperature pressure-time and heat of reaction data obtained. RSD uses sample quantity in grams to obtain more quantitative data than other conventional instruments. RSD has more advantage when it comes to sample testing which is equipped with six sampling chambers which helps to test different kinds of samples (six samples at a time) or different stages of desired product simultaneously which is time saving and which gives fast and reliable data. The advantage of RSD over the DSC is that the thermocouple positioning, in RSD which is directly in to the reaction sample where as conventional DSC uses pan-bottom approach to measure the heat from the reaction due to that RSD can detect the low heat from reaction and which is clear accurate.
