In the dimly lit room, the occupants heard a dog barking, and soon, a burly man rushed out. This hefty fellow, with a ferocious appearance, declared, "You scoundrel, watch my moves!" He then grabbed a sturdy pole, resembling a tiger ready to pounce, and charged straight at the intruder.
However, the intruder, accustomed to the alleys and streets, proved to be agile. Knowing he couldn't match the strength of the burly man, he tossed away the wooden stick, grabbed a food bowl, and stepped on the piled-up debris at the corner of the wall to vault over it.
The burly man, unwilling to give up, unlocked the door and, wielding the pole, chased after him. His steps were like a gust of wind, closing the gap between them rapidly.
The intruder felt a pang of fear, "This guy won't let me off easily. It seems today might end badly." He kept running, grabbing handfuls of the dirty water from the dog's bowl along his escape route. Unfortunately, he spilled about half of it, too preoccupied to lament. Survival took precedence!
As the bowl neared empty, he turned and threw it back at the pursuing man. The burly man, now furious and breathing heavily, was struck by the bowl on his back. A visible bloodstain appeared, painful but not enough to provoke curses; the intruder dared not further anger his pursuer.
Despite the pain, the burly man pressed on, fueled by rage. Seeing the desperation of the situation, the intruder intensified his efforts, sprinting out of the city until the man was out of sight.
"This city is no longer safe for me. I've stolen from every house I could. If my luck runs out and I encounter those merciless fiends again, my life might be forfeit," he pondered. With no lingering attachments, he resolved to move on.
However, as he considered his shrunken belly, he realized that the sprint must have stirred up his hunger. Instead of continuing, he decided to search for wild fruits in the desolate outskirts. If he could manage to beg for some sustenance from the mountain villagers, that would be even better.
