Sprouting from the tree of life,

Sprytende of þǣre trēowes līfes,

Mankind was destined to fail,

Manncynn wæs dēstined tō feallan,

Sending the cares of God into the wind,

Sendende Godes cāres on wind,

To create and make it through the world He

created.

Tō fremienne and geond þone woruld He gesceop.

Mankind turned its back on Him from the very beginning,

Manncynn his bæc onginne æt fruman,

Just in time to fall from grace, from now to everywhere at the end of time.

Tō feallan fram grāce, fram nū tō æghwær æt ende tīdes.

The universe itself knows of the disgrace,

Se gesceaft sylf wāt þæs wōh,

Nowhere, somewhere, everywhere at the end of time.

Nānweard, hwǣrweard, æghwær æt ende tīdes.

The fruit doesn't fall from the tree, unless the tree is on a hill.

Se frēod ne fealleþ fram þǣre trēowe, būton se trēow on hyll stonde.

The tree of life must have stood on Creation's mountaintop.

Se trēow līfes mōt hæbbān stōd on gesceapenesse munt.

Listening to a snake once, and man will always listen to snakes,

Gehȳrende ān nǣdre, and mann ā symle gehȳreþ nǣdran,

As Earth has become a pit of snakes.

Swa eorþe is geworden nǣdra pytt.

We are surrounded by them, and some of us become them.

We sind ymbscrydde mid him, and sume of ūs weorþað him.

From the Angels' first fall till the second coming, there will always be snakes.

Fram engla ǣrestan hryre oþ ōþerne cyme, symle bēoþ nǣdran.

From that time to the end of time, everywhere, there will always be evil.

Fram þǣm tīde tō ende tīdes, æghwær, symle bēoþ yfel.

Even when mankind takes its last stellar breath,

Ēac þonne manncynn nimþ his lǣstan steorran brēaþ,

There will always be evil, or some form of it,

Symle bēoþ yfel, oþþe sum hīw þæs,

From now and everywhere at the end of time.

Fram nū and æghwær æt ende tīdes.
