I still can’t believe I wrote a darn Scooby-Doo fanfic—LOL! I wasn’t expecting this at all, and I’m sure y’all weren’t, either, but the prompt was too good! Honestly, I was so embarrassed to write this story, but then my good friend, @FHLevin, encouraged me to finish it for Ihaan—because I love that baby with all my heart—so I did (and watched constant Scooby-Doo in the process).
Yes, I know this story is a little different and a bit darker than your typical Scooby-Doo show, but I enjoy darker twists on franchises, and character development is so important to me. Sometimes, I have to bend the franchise’s rules to develop them, and that’s okay.
Even though I fought a war with this story, I had so much fun with it, my baby Ihaan, and the Mystery Gang! At the end of the day, that’s all I want from ONC—to have fun, and I did. I also have a great idea now for when I write The Ghost of Ontario’s original and novel version, so thank you for that, ONC! It was also a nice break from Bill and the Whistling Death.
Now, let me tell y’all a little about Ihaan. Two people inspired him: my cousin Ian during our own canoeing trip in the Lady Evelyn-Smoothwater Provincial Park and Guy from The Croods.
As soon as I watched The Croods, I thought it would be cool to have my own wandering nomad like Guy, so I created Ian and put him in different Ghost of Whatever situations, finally settling in on Ontario. What I came up with was one of my best stories and characters (however, I never finished his story). Ihaan has been with me for 10+ years, and I am so happy to finally write his entire character arc in a darn Scooby-Doo fanfic while I plan a full-on original and modern rewrite.
Thank you so much for reading, and thank you again, @FHLevin, for encouraging me when I had serious doubts about this story. I’m happy I met you through that review shop.
