Scream A novel

Prologue

The town of Woodsboro was like any other American city. The bright lights illuminated the house where Casey Donaldson, seventeen, lived with her parents; the steps were dark.

She attended Woodsboro High School, where she was a sorority girl. She dated Steve Gorman, a fraternity house member, who was the same age at her. The winds blew from the north of the house; Casey's parents, Bob and Kara Donaldson, were both forty.

'We'll be at the Franklins for the party, Casey. We'll be home by 11:00 PM'.

'Okay, Dad', Casey kissed him on the left cheek.

'Don't watch too many scary horror movies on DVD', Kara Donaldson smiled.

'No, Mom'.

She nodded, as they opened the front door.

And left in Bob's 1972 Ford.

The movie was 'Halloween'.

Casey left to go to the kitchen.

The smell of popcorn was in the microwave.

Suddenly the telephone rang.

'Hello'.

'Who is this?'.

'It's no one in particular'.

'Is that you Steve?'.

'No. Who is he?'.

'My boyfriend'.

'What's your favorite scary movie?'.

'Friday the 13th. With Jason Voorhees'.

'Oh, I love that movie. At Camp Crystal Lake'.

'Yes'.

'Well, tell me who the killer is?'.

'Jason'.

Silence.

'Hello'.

'That's wrong. It was his mother, Pamela Sue Voorhees. Look outside the door'. Casey watched.

On the porch was Steve.

Tape was around his mouth.

'Help! Help!', he stammered.

Then a killer wearing a ghost face mask was aiming at his chest.

The screaming went on...and on...and on.

Casey ran outside the house.

She didn't want to look away.

Then she fled towards the other houses.

The killer stabbed her, as her parents came home.

The horror had come to Woodsboro.

The car arrived.

'Casey!', Kara Donaldson sobbed.

It was too late.

Police Officers were at the house.

Deputy Chief Dewey looked at the bodies.

'Steve Gorman, seventeen. He was with Casey Donaldson. Someone attacked them; someone with a large knife, and duct tape for his mouth. The stab wounds to the chest were deep'.

'I'm going to write up the story for the newspaper', Gale Weathers said.

'Don't', Deputy Chief Dewey said.

'And, why not?'.

'Because the killer's on the loose'.

She nodded, and walked away from the crime scene.

Chapter One

'You don't think they were killed because of me', Sidney Prescott said.

'No', Billy Loomis smiled.

'So, she was dead because of a horror movie question', Stuart Miner said.

'Yes', Tatum Harding said.

'Jesus. There's rules you know', Randy Myerson said.

'Who cares about the rules', Sidney stated.

And she shivered.

Billy jumped through the window.

'Hey, how're you doing, Sidney?', he asked her.

'I don't know. Maybe we like to do PG-13 sex', she answered.

'Don't mock me', Billy said.

'Casey was my friend. She and Steve were too young to die'.

'Yeah, life isn't great', Billy said.

'Says you. Besides, you spend too much time with Stuart'.

'Yeah, so'.

'So, you are like together all of the time'.

'Yeah, anyway, what about the Woodsboro slasher'.

'He's on the loose', Sidney told him.

He kissed her, and then Billy left her alone.

Chapter Two

'There are rules for horror movies', Randy said.

'Like, what', Stuart said.

'No sex. No saying "I'll be right back", because you never come back'.

'I'll be right back', Stuart said.

And he laughed, as he ordered pizza.

Everyone grinned, leaving Randy sighing.

Chapter Three

'I didn't kill the girl, and the boyfriend', Cotton Weary said.

'You were stalking Casey'.

'I wasn't. You've got to believe me', Cotton said.

'You're going to fry in the gas chamber, Cotton'.

'I'm innocent', Cotton sighed.

But it was too late.

He was guilty until proven innocent.

Tatum was in the garage.

She checked the lever.

It was wonky.

She sighed, as she heard the sound of footsteps.

'Who's there?', she asked.

No one answered.

Suddenly Ghost face appeared.

The knife was raised high in the air, and the killer killed her. Then her body slumped near the car, as the machine turned to a green color, and the door opened upward. It was the last thing she remembered before her death.

Epilogue

Sidney saw Billy and Stuart.

They were waiting for her.

'Cut me with the knife', Stuart said.

Billy did.

Stuart did the same.

Billy used the phone.

And called Sidney's house.

'Hi, Sidney. What's your favorite scary movie?', he asked her.

'You are the Ghost face killer, Billy. With Stuart's help. It's like the killers from the movie 'Rope', she answered.

'Can't beat the classics', Stuart said.

'Why?.

'Because we can kill anyone that's why. And we can make you scream', Billy said. He stared at the blood.

'Oh, I'm feeling bad, Billy. You cut me deep with the knife'.

Stuart felt disoriented.

And he passed out.

Sidney grabbed the .38 Smith & Wesson gun her father got for her.

She fired six times at Billy.

He fell on the ground dead, and the horror was over.

'Gale Weathers here, Ms. Prescott. How long-'.

'Get away, Gale', Sidney said.

She hit her with her left hand.

And she was taken away thanks to Deputy Dewey, and was ridden home to her family.

***

The bodies of Stuart and Billy was taken away to the Woodsboro Morgue. Randy had survived. Cotton Weary was home after he posted bail. It was $US500,000. He was glad to be alive.

Sidney hugged her parents, and knew she was safe from the Ghost face killer.

She didn't need to scream at all.
