My pen name's T.S Stone and I'm working on a zombie story about living mushrooms. The story focuses on two mushroom kids Mac and Donko. The main side characters are a petty criminal named Copper, and his brother Seth, a prison inmate. The sickness strikes at a hospital very near to the protagonists. The kids and Copper follow a small group of refugees who have survived the zombie outbreak and must get to their neighboring city in order to get help. Mac and Donko do their best to help their parents and the other survivors. However Copper has his own plans. He needs to free his brother from prison, before the sickness reaches him. He talks the kids into doing dangerous stunts in attempts to make the group pass by the prison so he can free his brother. This rips the small refugee group apart and causes the survivors to make difficult decisions. The story is partly horror, humor, and adventure. It's not very long. There might be about ten chapters or so. I personally think the idea is kind of unique, but I won't know for sure until I hear it from someone else. Let me know what you think about the idea.
