Chapter 2
Slowly the sun began to rise over the empty horizon. The only peaceful place left is the country between villages and towns, where fighting was banned long before. Many survivors left camped in villages making them their own, no-one tended to venture out between finding safety within their packs. Two figures walked past the vast amounts of land, both acting as if they were normal. As if everything was fine, like nothing had happened.620Please respect copyright.PENANAGnXGsUsV9Z
Villages made battle grounds, spilt in two for either side, whether they be different elements or fighting their own. Each round of the battle was quick and blood filled, as each mage had to regenerate their magic. Unfortunately, while mages may be powerful everyone had to run out of magic at some point, if used too much at a time. This caused battles to be quick and bloody. Many of the elements had grown towards using melee while only a few used ranged such as Light and Wind. Some elements tried to keep the peace and not cause death. Light had tried hard to keep this but eventually the leaders said no, telling all of them to cause bloodshed, many disagreeing. Those who refused where locked up and left to starve and die, some tortured. Earth was a strong element and luckily many followed together, using nature to fight however, destroying much of it close to them. Water focused on defending their territory with walls of water and anyone who got through would be killed, brutally. Their element was spilt into two half agreeing with the Outcasts and other denying it, them being the ones with the largest amount of Outcasts. Wind had the least amount of rebels, meaning they were killed off quickly, and their element went off to attack others. They also stayed behind at their element to protect it from other Elements and Outcasts. Fire were murderous, setting villages alight without bothering to attack, they were one of the strongest and focus on killing the innocent, kids and families who hid and tried not to fight. Shadow, while seemly the most evil and strong were killed off first. Their power got fed by blood causing them all to go insane without reason killing their own, element, friends, family and their selves. All they wanted was blood. They say only a few of the Shadow remain, the ones who could control this horrible magic.
As the two walked slowly only the wind could be heard brushing across the grass. They walked side by side not a word being spoken in a silence not awkward but yet lacking something. Minataz was the first to speak
"Irene? What was your past like?" he said simply and plainly while staring up at the sky waiting for an answer.
Cold shiver ran down her spine at the thought, but went unknown by Minataz. "It wasn't great. I lived with my brother, Elliot, most of my life since my parents were both killed when I was young about 3. We lived together in a village with the leader there, he took us in like we were his own but didn't treat us like that. We had to pay to live there so he tested on us. He thought we were capable of great things if he could extract magic from us and put modified versions in. I hated it. But I put up with it for so long. He kept us hidden away from everyone and continued with these until we couldn't take it. Elliot killed him after he learnt how to and we ran away to find somewhere new to live. That was our life until the war broke out. Our element was going around and killing everyone so we tried to run far but he was taken. The last thing he told was that I was a protector and I had to help the world, so I started researching and got to were I am now. Finding you, other protectors and getting the stones." she stared straight ahead reciting it all as if she was reading a book of her life, everything memorized, even imprinted in her mind.
He nodded slowly taking it in all in realising their childhoods were quite similar. "I see, it seems we both have had similar pasts." he said laughing a bit as she looked up at him slightly "My parents died when I was young too and left me to live with a group of old men who were powerful mages. They used to train me to become stronger and more equipped to fight. I was never allowed to leave the sanctuary until they discovered the demons had come out. They sent me out and told me not to be sad if I never saw them again; they wanted to test my strength and I won't fail them." he spoke with confidence trying to smile as much as he could. She nodded and smiled glad to know someone could understand her.
They continued to make their way towards the Wind village finally arriving to see it in a tragic state. The cottages were all destroyed into a rubble reck, nothing was properly left standing. Barricades were put up dividing off sections for those for and against. They slowly entered the town hearing nothing but silence all around. They both froze. Footsteps slowly approached as Minataz got into his fighting stance
"Humans" Irene said coldly as she drew out her two blades the black aura engulfing them again. Minataz kept his sword hidden as the 4 people came around the corner. They stood there for sometime before one of them said quickly
"Outcasts! Kill them!" A scowl quickly formed on Irenes face as she readied her sword but before anything could happen the 4 of them collapsed on the floor, blood forming behind them as Minataz stood there his blade covered in their fresh blood.
"They were weak" he said unimpressed "Must've run out of energy. If all of them are like this, then I don't see how they have survived" He turned slightly listening for anyone else before saying "Come on let's keep searching for the Wind Stone."
Irene put her blades away before walking on with him
"Don't you feel bad," she asked after time to fill the silence " about killing your own kind?"
He shrugged a little still spinning his sword in his hand as he cleaned it manually, wanting to preserver his energy. "I was taught not to feel bad for anyone because of who their were and because of what they thought. They hated Outcasts and didn't want to combine Elements. They were the ones who started the war so I don't feel bad for those kinds of people" he spoke normally as he put his sword away while they continued down the path towards the stone.
