Dad and I head out to his car and we head up to my middle school. My mom has told me about her speech but not a whole lot. I am almost 14 years old, and I can't wait to hear the rest of her speech.

She told me it was something bad that happened to her in the past and my principal has allowed her to tell her story to my class. My aunt Farrah, and uncle Wesley will meet up with us at the school with their 8 year old son, Xzander.

Oh I forgot to tell you that my mom's friends went to the same school, tried dating each other and well, now they are happily married and have one son, and another one on the way. Same as for my mom, she is now 2 months pregnant with my third sibling. She had her second child about 4 years after having me.

She went to a 4 year university instead of a community college. She went to school to be a counselor for kids and young adults who went through any kinds of abuse. She is also a public speaker who goes around to many places, telling her story and how you can get better. I am so proud of my mom.

We arrive at my middle school a few minutes later and see that uncle Wes, aunt Farrah and Xzander are waiting for us by the front doors. We get out and go up to hug them. I talk to them about what I learned this year. Just one more year and then I will be in high school. Wonder what those 4 years will bring me.

After introducing her, the audience claps and the curtains open up for the the important person of the hour. I see my mother standing there next to the microphone and see my father sitting in a chair just a few feet away from her.

My mom grips her hand onto the microphone, takes a deep breath and then starts taking about her journey to how she got this far in life.

I hear the rest of her speech as people start to stand up and clap for her while wiping their tears away from this touching story. I stand up and meet up with her on stage and give her a big, strong hug.

"I love you so much principessa." My mother whispers into my ears. I let go of the hug and I turn around to face all of the people who are applauding my mother. She is truly one of a kind.

She survived something that no person should have to go through. And neither should anyone else. And that is why I want to grow up and become a counselor for those in need. I may be just a pre-teen, but I already know what I want to do with my life.
