On a beautiful mid-winter day on the 11th of January, 2020, at a conference building in Toronto the president of the United States sat politely across from the prime minister of Canada at a conference table. There was still slush in the city gutters and citizens still wore their thick jackets and ski hats. A wide puff of milky breath invaded the air when they spoke or even just softly breathed. It was still cold. But the heat of that day would go on to be remembered as the biggest event in the history of North America-well, besides what came only four years later.
The president laughed lightly at a witty joke that the prime minister spat out and they both got to strict business. They planned to form a union; Come together to make Canada and the United States one country. With a tension building all around the globe, this was much needed. Next they would sit down at the negotiating table with Mexico. Tensions were building between it and the northern South American countries. The world was going to hell.
But on this day, ten minutes after that witty remark the prime minster said, you could hear a little pop from his head and suddenly he fell over and crashed to the floor, blood spilling out from his nose and eyes like a horned lizard.
When the president stood from his chair in shock, the shock to the other secret service members succeeded that surprise when a secret service agent in the far corner of the room raised his gun and shot the president clean in the head.
Then he shot the other agents.
The streets were suddenly on fire. Some of it literal, some of it figurative. Bombs ignited Toronto with a series of horrific booms. People's heads imploded. Blood splattered brick walls like graffiti and terrorists that looked like regular people ran rampantly murdering people cold blood. With semi-automatics and weapons they could conceal easily in their belt loop.
Bullets sprayed the air, their shells dropping like rain.
And on that cold winter day over 500,000 people were assassinated. And what they called the things that imploded people's brains? They called them Enhanced Silverfish. They would target an entrance into the human body, travel up the spinal cord and pop someone's brain like a cap.
Most of the attack was clean. Just that small pop. But some was brutal. Limbs flying as bombs exploded every which way.
After the attack, there came a court order. Right to bear arms was completely threw aside. They called it the search and seize. Both Canada and the U.S terminated all guns. Checked every home, corridor, building, street, sewer, everything. They terminated everything. Probably melted them in molten iron or something.
Ironically Mexico became a military state completely set on defending themselves from the corrupt South American countries.
By 2022, there were signs on the busy streets of North American cities with the homeless making their doomsday predictions. So many that it was believable. Probable. People were scared out of their minds. It was surprising that they didn't go crazy and corrupt.
By 2023 Pakistan, India, Europe, and Russia had built up their nuclear weapons like crazy. And the tension only got worse.
March, 2024, Pakistan and India set off their nuclear weapons on each other. Both countries were left as wastelands.
April, Europe and Russia could no longer stand each other. They were left to waste too.
May, the middle eastern terrorists got fed up with North American influence. More than two hundred planes were hijacked, bombing every major city in America and Canada. Not nuclear weaponry, but enough to kill 70% of the population of the countries combined. It wasn't even the bombs that just killed them. They'd made an alliance with Korea. It made little to no sense. Two regions of the world that would never be thought to ally got together to take down a common enemy. Planes filled with Korean soldiers conquered the skies. But only shortly after they did, the silverfish extinguished the burning terror flame. Still no one knew who had controlled the silverfish and manufactured them.
In eleven years the world was a horrific mess. Nuclear waste from the wars between the eastern hemisphere caused climate change. The climate change slowly melted what icebergs were left from years of carbon dioxide emissions sending them crashing down. Parts of the coasts of every continent flooded. Asia was hit by a water-borne plague that decimated 98% of its population. Over time Africa, a continent with an already overwhelmingly hot climate, became uninhabitable. Resources in Australia became extremely short as everyone was forced from the coast to the inland. The remaining humanity of Australia became clans that constantly fought for resources.
A collapse of the South American countries' governments drove civility off a cliff. Over time they developed a new drug. It was left unnamed but no one asked for any other drug but that. Just this new addictive. It gave people a high they couldn't even get from even the most illicit drugs. However they only got that high once before it destroyed their brain, turning them into insane lunatics. People who ran through the streets murdering for sport, cannibalizing others, and being broken down to animalistic measures. Mexico fought them off from coming North.
And in September of 2024, North America went dark. Every single device or machine using electricity, solar energy, energy at all stopped working.
Unexplained. Unexpected.
Today it is someday in December. No one pays much attention to the actual days, rather the weeks and months and years. The world hasn't seen snow since some winter a few years after the break of mankind.
The world hasn't seen a temperature lower than 70 degrees in more than five years.
And I've watched it all unfold.
