Purple vines run along the ground all around me. They are coming from me. The vines wrap around my legs and arms, holding me in place. All around me is darkness.
To my right is a figure I don't recognize: she's tall, long brown hair that's pulled back into a tight ponytail. She wears a pink and black crop-top. She has black bat-like wings. Her shorts are black, pink ribbons lining the sides. She has black thigh-high socks that also have a pink bow on both. A pair of pink heels are on her feet. Her face is covered by a faceless pink mask. This person holds a long silver bladed sword, with a black handle and pink fabric wrapped around it.
And to my left, well, I definitely know him. Vosks black hair hangs down in front of that static mask that covers his face. His silver wings really stand out from behind a black, sleeveless shirt. His pants are black jeans that cover most of his also black shoes. Two silver antennas fall down in front of his mask; one of them noticeably damaged. Surprisingly, Vosk isn't holding his classic silver blade sword, instead he holds... nothing.
To my right, the person raises their sword and brings it back down, hard, on the ground. A hard gust of wind launches me back. I don't go far until my back hits a hard surface, followed by the sound of bones cracking.
The girl pulls herself up into a fighting position, the sword in her hand now raised above her head.
To my right now, stands Vosk. He's facing me, just staring at me. The girl who's now straight ahead of me doesn't move. Instead she waits for Vosk to make a move.
He takes a step forward, and another. I try to get up, to try and get out of the way of any attack he tries to make, but the vines hold me down, warping tighter and tighter around me.
Vosk takes a few more steps until he's right next to me. Then he puts himself between me and the faceless girl. I can feel the fear creeping up on me. Still weaponless, he crouches down, his wings ruffling behind him. As I prepare for the worst, he reaches his hand forward and holds it out to me. All my fear is replaced with confusion. He waits for me to take it, the vines releasing a bit of their tension. I hesitate. I glance behind him at the ready-to-attack girl; she still has her sword up, but now her mask has shifted enough to tell that even she doesn't know what Vosk is doing.
Unsure myself, I reach forward. I stop, our hands inches apart, I hesitate. He doesn't move his hand, letting me make the decision. When nothing happens I take it. He holds my hand, it's a (to my surprise) soft hold.
Nothing happens at first, then a strong wind picks up, swirling around us. The girl is picked up in this wind, her sword ripped out of her hand and everything else. She's flung back into the darkness, a high pitched scream echoing in the endless void.
With his other hand, Vosk reaches up to his mask, slowly pulling it down. I suck in a sharp breath as the face of Vosk is revealed. A loud banding echos somewhere off in the darkness.
Vosk is-
The image shatters as I wake up. I open my eyes slowly, not sure what is happening. The banging is still there. I chase after the image in my mind that threatens to escape from me. I try to see who Vosk is, I try to keep the appearance of that other girl. The banging on my door distracts me. I sigh as the dream slips away from me, becoming one of those that you know you had, but can't remember what it was about.
I groan. "What?" I shout to the door.
"Open this door you piece of shit!" Linsy growls from the other side. I sigh and crawl off my bed. I walk up and swing the door open.
"What?" I ask again, sounding more annoyed than before.
"Get your ass cleaned up, we are going out for dinner." She grumbles.
I groan. "Why?"
"Because I said so!" She shouts, "I made a promise to take care of you! So that means making sure you eat!"
I roll my eyes.
"Now hurry up! The girls are waiting!" She storms back downstairs. I sigh, frustrated. I can take care of myself! I hate having to go out with my sister and her shit friends; but then she did make a promise with our parents, so there is nothing I can do about it.
I change into a gray t-shirt. I fix my messy hair and then hurry downstairs. My sister waits with her friends. They laugh about things that I don't care about. When they see me, they ask, "are you ready?" I nod, keeping my head down.
They huff and turn out. I follow behind the three of them. We climb into Linsy's car. I sit in the very back away from the girls. I lean against the window, watching the sun set behind the tall buildings. It's almost dark again. I slept basically all day!
The drive isn't long but it sure feels long.
The restaurant we arrive at used to be my favorite, then my parents passed, and just the thought of this place makes me sick.
I take a silent breath before getting out of the car. the girls laugh at something on their phones. I ignore them and follow them into the dinner. There are a few people. I wouldn't say it's busy, but it's not a slow evening either.
We are seated by the window, I slide into the spot closest to the window then Linsy sides in next to me. Her friends sit across from us. We are given the menus and they begin yapping to each other about the current trends and ranting about who they don't like (for stupid reasons of course).
"My boyfriend bought me a ring worth about three hundred dollars!" One of the girls brags. The others gasp and look at the new ring on her finger. I roll my eyes.
Gold diggers. That's what they are, asshole gold diggers.
