The day after our wedding, I got sent a text from Bernard Cooper about where I was supposed to go for my job as casting director. It wasn't actually all that far from where we lived, but I felt awkward thinking of going there together with Mitchell, so I told them to just send someone with me. It wasn't for another month, but I was worried that it would affect Mitchell and myself negatively.
Mitchell told me that he took a week off for our wedding, but said that it would be troublesome if we went on a Honeymoon right away and that we'll wait until after my job with Mr. Cooper is over.
"You know what would taste good right now?" I asked.
"Me?" Mitchell asked.
"No," I said, "Food-wise."251Please respect copyright.PENANA8Xjpk7cP6G
"Manicotti?" Mitchell asked. I tried my best to not smile, because that usually would have been correct, but it wasn't today.
"Pizza," I said.
"Okay, I'll make sure there's no meat on it," Mitchell said, knowing that I'm not fond of most meats.
"Can you get some with shrimp?" I asked. Mitchell gave me a weird look.
"That's not what you usually want," Mitchell said.
"I feel like eating shrimp today," I said.
"I thought you didn't like seafood either," Mitchell said.
"I like some," I said, "But I can't eat it all the time."
"Why are you such a picky eater, Cherry?" Mitchell asked.
"I'm not sure," I said, "How did you learn so much about me in only two months?"
"You wouldn't understand even if I told you," Mitchell said, "By the way, isn't your heat a little late this month?"251Please respect copyright.PENANAayaOIZZ8Pp
"I'm not good at keeping track of that," I said, "Besides, do Omegas get their heat when they're pregnant?" Mitchell looked at me like I was crazy.
"Are you trying to say that you're pregnant?!" Mitchell asked.
"No, I was saying that I was so young when I was pregnant that I don't remember if I had it or not," I said.
"Are you seriously that dumb?" Mitchell asked, "They nest instead."
"I haven't nested yet, so I think we're safe," I said.
"That is true, but Cherry, you just asked me for something that you don't normally eat," Mitchell said, "And your heat is late."
"That would really suck," I said, "Because I have this big important job with Mr. Cooper."
"Just take a test," Mitchell said, "You had a whole bunch of them when you moved in." I went to the bathroom and took a pregnancy test, then another one, until I took six in total. All of them were positive.
"We were right," I said as I got out of the bathroom, "I'm pregnant."
"We need to get you to a doctor," Mitchell said, "I know that you're not happy about it, but I'm sure that it'll all work out. Remember, Ashlie is coming home tomorrow. We've got this."
"Wait," I said, "But we don't have Ashlie's school all set up yet. Shouldn't we make sure that we have everything she needs before she gets here?"
"I'm sure she will bring a few items, but I wanted to have her choose her things," Mitchell said, "That way it isn't as scary as it would seem. I know she's young, but she'll want her own things."
"You're so thoughtful, Mitchell," I said.
"I see you still haven't given me a nickname, Cherry," Mitchell said.
"What does that have to do with anything?" I asked. Mitchell smiled and gave me a hug.
"Things will all work out," Mitchell said.
