The Four Kingdoms had to defend their home once already. Twenty years ago, the self-proclaimed, Lord Varamont launched a full-scale war on the inhabitants of the continent of Monmarolin.

Using his enslaved demons, he made his way across the land slaughtering without prejudice. If they did not submit to his will, they would die.

In the end of the four year long war, Lord Varamont was surrounded by the human, elf, and dwarven alliance. They had fought hard and had lost many but they had never given up.

Before the alliance could end the sadistic demon wizard, he used his last amount of magic to separate their forces, permanently. He split the entire continent into four islands and filled the empty space between with dark magic of his own creation.

Today, he makes his return to continue where he left off. And this time he would not face defeat.

There are things no one was meant to see, and darkness that should never have been given living form.

"That the world is coming to an end has long since been a dead issue. Everyone has heard of it. Those who have seen it know what the truth is, those who haven't either believe it or not. Either way, no one really cares. We shattered reality itself to shards, but even the apocalypse could not make a difference. Those who are lucky enough to live well don't care about other people's misery or how the world collapses, not even if their own children will have nothing to inherit but ashes and fear, and no matter how much power they have, they only use it for their own benefit, while bringing suffering to others. And the worst is, no matter what nightmarish old or new ideologies they use to justify their deeds, the flock will follow. In the end, the story is always the same."

This is the story of a broken world haunted by the deepest horrors of the human soul, relentless persecution and superstitious hatred, a fanatic war against everything that is not human, and the damned who oppose and never yield to fate. This is not a fairytale.

What to expect:

A deep dark medieval high-fantasy with elves, dwarves, fairies and demons, magic and swords, romance and hatred, and a post-apocalyptic world. This is not a fanfiction of any sort, it's an original story that popped out from my head, and it's very dear to me. I am really happy if you find it worth reading!

The Old Empire, as was called the area from which people fled, is lost in the darkness. Those who survived established their colonies on remote islands later called the New World. But these islands hide secrets that could destroy even the rest of the people of the Empire.

Getting kidnapped by a rival alpha wasn't the way I'd planned on starting my day. But I had to hand it to Jethro - he made being a prisoner actually pretty decent, and I had the run of the house. I was certainly treated with a damn sight more respect than I was at home, and that was saying something.

Of course, I knew I was only going to be kept prisoner until the ransom Jethro asked of my parents was paid. But when they came to pay it, they were so damned arrogant about the whole affair that I told them to shove their money up their asses; I was staying with Jethro.

Jethro, surprisingly, backed me in the matter. My parents ... not so much. So when they found out I was determined to stay, they took it as a declaration of war, and promised to pay Jethro back the only way they knew how; in blood.

But I wasn't going to go back to their packhouse. I'd made too many friends, and I wasn't going to have that taken away from me.

Rickalas, thought it would be another ordinary boring day to be a Guardian when he along with his fellow Guardians arrived at Mallace. He was very wrong. An unknown force sent him to the forgotten city of Hydra and there he stumbled upon an ancient tomb of a Slaad lord. He accidentally unlocked. Curiosity got the best of his fear as he pushed deep inside. Unknowingly he awoke one of the most vicious and cruel Slaad lords in Azurdenean history. Their chance encounter broke an illusion that altered many peoples memories.

Not before he awoke the Slaad lord, Rickalas took a ring that was stolen from him. How it was inside a tomb sealed for thousands of years was beyond him. Caleb after rescuing him from the Slaad lord explained the ring belonged to the king of the Azzard a line that was broken nine hundred years ago. With all these events confusing Rickalas, Caleb advises that he seeks out the chosen one of old. One who may hold all the answers. Unknowingly to everyone that he walks amongst them all hiding in plain sight.

Desperate for answers the Guardians turn to King Tirian of Fasingworld who advises them to speak to the oldest known man in the Azzard, Scabies Thesulac. The Slaad lords were on the move, plotting and planning. The world wasn't prepared for the return of Azurdenea's ancient enemy. War was coming. Death was coming. The nothing, was coming. The One'being had sent its legions to help his minions the Slaads and the Guardians experience their greatest pain when one of their own betrays them.
