ALTERNATE UNIVERSE is an album I wrote in early 2024 in response to the way men have treated me as a receptacle throughout my life. That experience is at its core, but the album also explores lust from two conflicting perspectives: one that rejects hookup culture and one that constantly craves it - imagining myself in both roles, in an alternate universe. A piece that embodies this contrast is Interdimensional Urges, which reflects on the decline of domesticity in a relationship from both sides.

The title, ALTERNATE UNIVERSE, comes from the piece of the same name, which was inspired by a short-lived, fling-like relationship I wished had evolved into something more. That longing, that desire for an alternate outcome, shaped the album’s concept: taking real situations from my own experience and playing them out through different characters - sometimes hinting at change, sometimes rewriting the ending entirely.

This album was pre-poetic Rebel, but still written during a phase of poetic curiosity. The pieces are more song-like than poem-like, making them more accessible while still serving the album’s purpose - something deeply personal yet open for others to find meaning in, even if its themes are niche. These include catfishing (God You Want), body dysmorphia (Signature Move), and coming out guidance (Best Advice).

Ultimately, ALTERNATE UNIVERSE was the first album I wrote with a clear concept in mind, and it will be the only album I share that predates FIEFDOM FALL. I hope you enjoy shifting perspectives through these pieces, all centered around the age-old question: what if? Writing this challenged me to see things from different angles - I hope it challenges you too.

Crimson Vowsexpresses heartbreak, betrayal, and lost love. It reflects on a past relationship, confronting the pain of deception and shattered promises. With vivid imagery and passionate language, the poem explores the complexities of love, trust, and the consequences of betrayal.

FIEFDOM FALL is an album I’m immensely proud of creating, especially considering the period in which it was made. I started working on the concept in July 2024, after writing the first piece, Passion of The Cut Sleeve, about my boyfriend at the time - the day before we broke up. That piece became the catalyst for the album, leading me to write mostly about my childhood trauma as a way to process it.

The title, FIEFDOM FALL, comes from the second piece on the album, Filial Piety, which I wrote to make sense of my feelings toward my parents. To me, FIEFDOM FALL represents the destruction of a belief system, both internally and externally. Internally, I changed in December when my family from New Zealand came to visit. I noticed myself becoming more assertive, mirroring the confidence I saw in their tourist behaviors. This confidence was new to me - I realized how much of my personality I had kept hidden, likely because I associated it with my queerness and, in turn, suppressed both. The external change is mostly about how others perceive things, as explored in Rue You, where I wrote from the perspective of a character who both adores and is repelled by someone. In a way, that push-and-pull dynamic mirrors how outside forces shaped my own relationships and self-perception.

FIEFDOM FALL is also deeply poetic, which is something I’ve always strived for - poetry within lyrics. It doesn’t always adhere to traditional song structures, much like queerness itself isn’t always seen as mainstream. The poetic style feels especially fitting given how personal the album is to my experiences with sexuality and identity. In some ways, the poetry acts as a veil, masking the full truth beneath flowery - or in this case, Chinese - imagery.

And that’s what this album encapsulates. I hope you can identify with these struggles I’ve carried for years - struggles that are ultimately human: jealousy (Shaded Jade), heartbreak (I Don’t Think), baby fever (Antinomy), and more. But even if you don’t relate to anything I’ve said, I hope you can still enjoy the experience of stepping into the shoes of a queer artist navigating life.

In *Undergoing: Seeing Red*, we meet a 16-year-old girl named Roxy, whose life is a tangled web of empathy, anxiety, and a relentless search for stability. A girl who is fiercely independent, yet carries the weight of others' emotions, Roxy’s world is colored by the pain of her past and the struggles she faces each day. She is a character defined by her Y2K-inspired style—bold, sharp, and a bit of a puzzle to those who try to understand her. With Vasovagal syncope, Roxy navigates her life with a constant battle between fear and strength, balancing the weight of her emotions with a deep sense of empathy for the people around her. She can feel the pain of others as if it were her own, and it is both a gift and a curse.

Roxy is introverted by nature, choosing her battles carefully and only opening up to those who have earned her trust. Though sassy and sarcastic, with a sharp wit that can cut through the air, Roxy is a survivor, constantly searching for answers to the questions that life keeps throwing her way. The daughter of Evie and Axel, both young parents who were barely older than Roxy herself when they had her, Roxy’s home life has always been a difficult one. Her parents, too immature and unfit to care for her, have been a source of pain and confusion throughout her life. With the looming threat of a court case that could change everything, Roxy finds herself at a crossroads, caught between the chaotic life she’s known and the chance for something better.

Roxy’s appearance is as unique as her personality. She has deep red hair that cascades past her shoulders in soft waves, often styled in a messy bun or left to flow freely, embracing the Y2K aesthetic with a modern twist. Her pale complexion contrasts with her striking features, including her sharp, almond-shaped eyes, which are her most captivating feature—an intense, piercing red that flicker when she's emotionally charged. Her left eyebrow is adorned with a small piercing, giving her an edge, and a helix piercing on her left ear adds to her rebellious charm. Roxy dresses in a mix of vintage and modern pieces, blending layers of vibrant red, denim, and chunky accessories. She’s often seen wearing bold, graphic tees, oversized jackets, and chunky boots, completing the look with silver jewelry that catches the light as she moves.

Enter Luke, Alex, and Reggie—three 17-year-old boys whose lives were forever changed by the music that bound them together. Though they come from different backgrounds, each of them has been shaped by their own trials and tribulations, making them the perfect complement to Roxy's complex character.

The year is **1995**, a time when music, fashion, and culture collide, setting the stage for Sunset Curve, the band that binds these four souls together. And in this version of reality, Luke, Alex, and Reggie are not ghosts or memories of the past—they are very much alive, each at the forefront of their journey, their struggles, and their victories.

### **Luke’s Backstory:**

At 17 years old, Luke is the passionate and protective leader of the trio. He grew up in a home torn apart by emotional neglect, with a mother who could never truly connect with him and a father who chose to walk away from their family. From a young age, Luke learned to fend for himself. His escape was always music—writing songs, playing guitar, and finding solace in the sound of his own voice. But no matter how much he lost himself in his music, the void left by his father’s abandonment was always there.

Luke is tall with a lean, athletic build, often dressed in a mix of rock-inspired clothing, like leather jackets, band tees, and worn-in jeans. His shaggy brown hair, often messy from performing, frames his face, and his hazel eyes gleam with an intensity that shows his unwavering determination to protect those he loves. He carries himself with the quiet confidence of someone who’s fought his battles, and though his tough exterior sometimes makes him seem unapproachable, those who know him understand the depth of his heart. His natural leadership is magnetic, and while he can be a bit headstrong, his sincerity is never in question. Luke plays guitar in their band, Sunset Curve, a pivotal role in the band's sound and the driving force behind their success.

### **Alex’s Backstory:**

At 17, Alex is the quiet, introspective member of the trio. Growing up in a family that demanded perfection at every turn, Alex spent much of his childhood feeling like he was never enough. His parents, though loving, put immense pressure on him to succeed, making it impossible for him to find his true self. The fear of failure plagued him for years, and it wasn’t until he found music and his ability to empathize with others that he started to feel like he had a purpose. But even then, the weight of never meeting expectations stayed with him.

Alex stands at an average height with a slender frame that reflects his quieter, more thoughtful nature. His messy blonde hair often falls into his eyes, which are a striking shade of green, full of emotion and depth. His usual attire includes simple yet stylish clothes—loose sweaters, fitted jeans, and boots that give off an effortlessly cool vibe. Alex’s understated look contrasts with the intensity he carries in his heart, and though he may appear soft-spoken, his presence is undeniable when he chooses to speak. Alex plays drums for Sunset Curve, providing the rhythm and pulse that gives their music its heartbeat.

### **Reggie’s Backstory:**

At 17, Reggie is the youngest of the trio, but that doesn’t mean he lacks depth. Reggie’s upbringing was far from easy—he grew up in a household where love was conditional and affection was rare. His parents, though present, were emotionally distant, leaving Reggie to figure out the world on his own. The humor he developed over the years became his shield against the loneliness and neglect he often felt. Through laughter, he found his way into the hearts of others, but behind the jokes was a boy who never felt seen or valued.

Reggie is slightly shorter than Luke, with a wiry frame that allows him to move with a restless energy. His black hair is always in a state of controlled chaos, often tousled in a way that looks like he’s been running his hands through it. His playful blue eyes sparkle with mischief, but they also reflect a sadness he doesn’t like to show. Reggie dresses casually, often in colorful shirts, jackets, and sneakers, embracing a laid-back, almost childlike style that contrasts with the depth of his emotions. His humor is infectious, and his presence is a breath of fresh air, but beneath his playful exterior lies someone who longs for true connection. Reggie plays bass guitar for Sunset Curve, adding the groove and energy that fuels their sound.

Roxy’s path intertwines with Luke, Alex, and Reggie’s in a way that changes all of them. The boys, each with their own emotional baggage, come together to offer Roxy something she’s never had: a sense of belonging. With Luke’s fierce protection, Alex’s understanding, and Reggie’s lightheartedness, Roxy begins to see that there is more to life than the chaos she’s known. The boys, too, begin to heal in their own way, learning from Roxy’s strength and resilience.

As they all navigate the complexities of their lives—Roxy facing the court case and her troubled parents, and the boys learning to balance their pasts with their futures—they find in each other a support system that changes everything. Luke, Alex, and Reggie are alive, real young men with dreams, fears, and flaws. But together, they form something unbreakable: a family built on empathy, love, and the shared understanding that healing isn’t a solo journey.

In the end, it’s not just Roxy who needs saving—it’s all of them. And perhaps, in saving each other, they’ll all find the peace they’ve been searching for. Together, they will not only face the trials of their pasts, but they will find their place in the world, both in their music and in the lives they are building together. The year is **1995**, and this is just the beginning of the story that will define them all.
